I am not the smartest person in the world,

Lets just get that out of the way right off the bat.

    x1524807:
They offered this game for free because it was beta,

So far so good...So whats the problem?

    x1524807:
Meanwhile they decided not to make it free by selling you avatar clothing, balls, clubs and anything else they can think of.

Ok,I think right here is where your getting confused.WGT does not have people that show up at your door and drag you into your computer room and force you to BUY anything.

They do provide a Free golf game with the option to buy better equipment, key word there being "OPTION".

Well said Git. We only buy what we think we need to compete with the better players on here. We are not forced to buy.

Been here since December, but my first post.... sorry if this has been adressed before, but to the guy that has meter stutter, do you use WiFi? I have 3 computers at home and 2 of them (on WiFi, give me meter stutter), but the one that is hard wired (ethernet), does not stutter at all.

First of all, you are insulting, and we do not need that in the forum, try it on your wife and see how far it gets you

Second of all, you are forced to buy to compete with other players,  GET IT

Insulting other posters is not a smart thing, it shows stupidity, and I am sure you are not stupid, so please refrain

How dare you say I'm not stupid, you don't even know me.

It's just thats it's bad for business for us to openly accuse WGT of running a scam on it's happy and loyal customers. There are a few that feel the need to tell us how they are robbing us and designed to take my money.

If thats your argument,  I don't get it.I thought that was how a business was suppose to work.Oh well I guess it's back to the drawing board.

Good job GIT... way to defuse the situation.  And still stand by your point.  Diplomacy 101.

I'm going to spell this one out for you, since between this and the other thread which are more than a little annoying, are still going largely because of you.

The game is Beta.  Correct.   It has some small issues.  Correct, thus the beta title.

    The game is Free.   Correct.

People get to try the game BEFORE they ever spend any money.   Correct.

If people want to buy better clubs to improve their game and support the website, they have that choice but they do not need to.   Correct.

Will they be competitive with all free clubs if they decide to stick around and play more than 20 games?   Some people have, some people are Masters with mostly free clubs like only bought a driver to hit it farther, no doubt they do NOT have the lowest scores and no one feels sorry for them either for being so cheap.   This is irrelevant anyway.

Heres the clincher for those that dont get it, and there are more than a few apparently.  The game is beta, sure, and some bugs have been troublesome like the meter, but maybe people also need to stop and think about that putting the game together wasn't free, far from it.  A new course rumor has it can cost up to $200,000 dollars using all the beautiful HD pictures etc from the actual course, this doesnt even take into account, time, employees, web hosting, etc, etc, etc.

What is your solution, hope that WGT wins the lottery?

Do you know how to solve the bug issues so they can take it out of beta?

(not that this even matters, its beta and its free unless you choose to buy something after you have tried the game, it couldnt be any more fair than it is now)

Do you have half a million dollars or more just sitting around to put together a golf game for everyone to enjoy for free?   If you do, please put one together for everyone.

No I'm sure no one does and I dont think they did either, not that many people do and it may have even cost more than that who knows.   No what they wisely did was allow those people that like the game after trying it and want better clubs to BUY them and at the same time it supports the site to stay alive, add more courses, etc.  If people want to just hang around and enjoy the game for free, they can, will they be the lowest scoring on the site, maybe not, ahhh too bad for them.

No, its not so hard to understand, when one stops to look at the big picture.....and to me, it looks like the overall best solution was chosen, if it was my business, I would do exactly the same thing they have, and so far their success says they indeed on are on the right track.

So anyone who wants to cry foul because they have to spend some money  (and its not even that much)  to support a beta golf game, wont get any pity in these forums, nor should they.  Many other free crappy games around, anyone can go play them if they dont like the business model here, and I wish they would so we can stop seeing these incredibly stupid threads.

So play for free, buy some clubs or move on, the choice is simple for anyone and while complaining is a choice, its not a very wise one as I have pointed out nor are there any here that hold any validity thus far.

Jayson, I find it hard to believe that you think that we have an argument or a disagreement. I agree with 95% or your post. If you go back to my original post you will see this

I did not ask WGT to give me this game for free. I would be thrilled to pay a onetime price for the game, or a monthly service fee to use the sight

I do not want WGT to go broke, and I also value my money. To call me cheap is a cheap shot. You do not know me, and you do not know how I distribute my money. For all you know I may give 20% of my check each month to my Church, so you have no right to call anyone cheap. Because I do not want to spend my money for upgrades does not make me cheap. Some would say that it is a wise decision. . Otherwise, you and I are in agreement. I wish this forum could disagree without being so disagreeable. There is an element that runs to the computer the minute someone says something negative about WGT, and I wish that could stop. We all have our opinions, and I do not have any negative feelings for WGT, but for those that do, that is their right.

please let us communicate without name calling, talking down or in general being disagreeable
