When you hit level 85, buy the R11 3-wood, Burner 2.0 irons and G20 driver. Also, buy a 100-yard wedge. Till then... stick with what you've got.

    LOL.

I used the K15s, hit 18 pars in 18 holes and two-putted 15 of them, for a less than inspiring 70 and an emabarrassing 3rd to last place.

Logged back in a few minutes ago to find out I'm the leading money winner for the month. ???

Turns out I won the sky-caddy.

Thanks WGT. You have a heart. :)

    Hardly a triumph.

But to get it back on topic; aside from an ice cold putter, the K15s were definitely the right choice. I only missed one green all day (two holes were par four lay ups) and I had a dozen makeable birdie putts.

I can't imagine doing any better with the 2.0s without a lot of practice.

The sky caddie thing was just a funny side note.

As an experiment, I'll get the 2.0s for the second round and see how it goes.

Have you tried the Burners yet?  I'm interested to hear your take on them.  I've been using them for a while now, slowly getting used to the meter.

Just for the heck of it I rented the level 83 G20s today.  I like the slower meter but they don't quite have the feel of the Burners.  It seems that with the Pings, mishits are more easily forgiven, but by the same token, a ding with the G20s is not quite so well rewarded as a ding with the Burners.  I like the stopping power of the Burners over the Pings, too.

It's more of a challenge (for me) to play well with the Burners, but when you're on your game they're quite rewarding.  I have to say it's very tempting for me to go with the G20s just for the slower meter.  I'll turn 61 this summer and needless to say, reflexes ain't what they used to be.

In the end I guess it's good to have choices.  I may just buy the G20s to have both sets in inventory so on any particular day I can bag either one.

On another note, I've also been using the free rental weekend to try out the high level Cleveland wedges...man, these clubs are fun!  Pretty steep learning curve, but when dialed in just right it's like throwing darts...incredible clubs.

I had problems with the ding using the R11's but have found out that the Nike 20XI-X Balls level 48 slows the meter just right. I know they are a bit more expensive than the Cally's but they have good durability and have made my game much more enjoyable and playable.

Give them a try. you might be pleasantly surprised.

Mel, will do, thanks for the suggestion.  I take it the 1950 is your birth year?  If so, you've got me by one.  I'll give the NIke a try and see if that helps.

    I did.

I bought them last week. In the handful of times I hit the ding, they proved to be high quality clubs. I was also given some pretty good advice on how to hit them (yardage vs spin vs wind, etc) that helped me to play the right shot most of the time.

The problem was that I was moving from the k15s, which may be the slowest meter available, to the fastest. In the end, the transition was just too jarring.

    I sold them back.

I plan to learn the 2.0s and R11s at some point, but I need to get there incrementally. It was all pretty humbling.
