    To deena , have you checked your "ping" numbers on a good speed test site?? if they happen to be higher than normal THIS CAN affect the swing meter because there is an extra long delay between the info sent from your computer to the servers and back.   just a friendly suggestion. I for instance have a crap computer and a crappy slow dsl internet connection, BUT  my ping number when tested is very good and I rarely have swing meter problems.

    Here are my specs

    1. o/s   XP-pro
    2. MB   Asus P5LD2
    3. Ram   2gigabytes;  2-1 gigabyte sims, interleaved
    4. CPU Dual core Intel 945
    5. Nvidia GT 240 with 1 gig of ram
    6. External CD rom drive, disconnected when not in use.
    7. Audigy 24 bit  sound card.

    Here are two important registry tweaks;

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
    "AlwaysUnloadDll"=dword:00001

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
    "SecondLevelDataCache"=dword:01000

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    If you look in your registry check the value of the SecondLevelDataCache.   In some cases that value will not exist and you will need to create the value, just copy and paste and make sure it is an integer value. With XP you will find that value equal to zero 99 percent of the time.  You can verify the L2 cache by going into the bios, in my case it is 4096 MB.   This will reduce the load on your CPU and improve performance.

    From the research that I have done, it occurs in all windows operating systems.

    This may sound like a weird suggestion but if you could borrow or rent? another laptop with better specs from a friend,etc  then try playing wgt on the new laptop. if the game plays the same [meter issues] then probably its your internet connection. but if game plays better[smoother meter]  then its probably your laptop that is the problem.   just throwi'n ideas out there deena!!  want you to enjoy the game more!!

    no idea on flash

    Not only what Sting said, but check your flash version with whatever browser you choose.  To find out what version you are running, right click on play now button & it's the bottom line.  Also type about:plugins in the address bar. Once there click the little details box in the upper right corner. This brings up the plugins, which on top of list are the flash choices. You'll see either disable or enable under each one. Any that say disable are being used. Make sure of two things: You're not using any version that has the words pepper flash in the description; & that you're not running two or more versions at once. This is true if you see disable under more than one choice.  Good luck & come back if no improvement seen. Many here with much more knowledge than me to help you play porky free golf. Take care.

    Thanks for that Hyena & Borntobesting, most appreciated.

    Flash player is Adobe 11.4.402.287... smooth sailing at the moment :)

    cheers ~ Nan ~

    Going to run with this also folks. My specs are as follows, but not sure if this is what is needed.

    Processor:  AMD Phenom (TM) II x2 555 Processor 3.20Ghz
    4.00 GB Ram
    Windows 7 Premium
    Nvidia Geforce GTS 450 with 1G Ram.
    64 bit system.
    Flash version 11,4,402,287
    Internet: 28MB fibre optic unlimited.
    Speed test as of writing this:
    Download= 31.96 MB/s
    Upload=3.24 MB/s
    Ping= 5Ms
    I have a card somewhere with all the info for all the specs, i just need to find it.

    I got Joy Systems Intel Pentium Dual CPU   E2160 @ 1.80 GHz

    1.79 GHz, 1.98 GB RAM

    Hyena, Thanks for that info its just what I needed.  You have a dual core processor and 2Gb memory which exceeds the WGT minimum system requirement by quite a bit.

    A dual core CPU running at 1.8 Ghz is much faster than a single processor Pentium 4 running at 2.0Ghz (the WGT min. req.)

    How can I say that?  There are benchmarking programs that run a specific set of test programs on computers and record the results.  The results typically include how long it takes a computer to run a test program. The results are tabulated and assigned a score.  These scores are an apples-to-apples comparison of CPUs and the higher the score the faster the computer.  (Many people treat the scores as linear, a CPU with a score of 1500 is considered 3 times faster than a CPU with a score of 500.)

    Using the popular Passmark benchmarking data: Hyena's CPU scores 1,026 while the WGT minimum requirement Pentium 4 @ 2.0 Ghz scores 247.

    Here's some more benchmark results for comparison.

    CPU Benchmarking Test Results from PassMark PerformanceTest benchmark results

    CPU CPU Mark* CPU Category Comment
    Intel Xeon E5-2690 @ 2.90GHz  16,609

    Intel Core i7-3517UE @ 1.70GHz  3,817 hi end CPU Running at 1.7Ghz doesn't mean it is slow.
    AMD Phenom II X2 555 @ 3.2Ghz 2,175 hi mid range CPU TWOMINUSONE'S CPU
    Intel Core i5 M 430 @ 2.27GHz 1996 hi mid range CPU Andyson's 2yr old CPU

    Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.00GHz 247 low end CPU WGT's minimum system requirement
    *CPUs with a bigger CPU Mark score are considered to be faster and better performing CPUs overall.  The rating the CPU’s are given here represents their peak performance and not necessarily their real world performance with any specific software application.   (Kinda sorta like our WGT Legend "averages" which represent our potential best rounds.)

    Damn, when I bought my laptop 2 years ago it was in the top 25% and now there are desktops 6X faster!

    Infinito, I need more info on your processor in order to find it on the Passmark site.  Maybe you can find it?

    WGTpizza:
    Your post is a great bit of solid proof that it does not take much to play WGT with little or no problems. You have a 6 year old computer that doesn't even meet the minimum requirements to play WGT (2.0mhz cpu, yours is 1.8mhz) yet you still have nominal issues. I'm glad to see people like you stepping up to show the community proof that WGT can be run near flawlessly on sub-optimal machines, and without guru-level knowledge of computers.

    Your enthusiasm is admirable WGTpizza, but you jumped the gun on the above since we didn't truly know Hyena's CPU specs at the time.  It is wrong, as it turned out, Hyena's CPU exceeds minimum WGT requirements.

    P.S. This page is so long WGT gave me 4 friggin' ads down the left side of my screen!  That's absurd!
