Also I have to say what a superb job you have done creating the format and the whole leaderboard and stats tables. That must have taken ages. Very well done.

    Neil

I can't stress this^ enough. Corwyn does an amazing job with the leaderboard, the pairings and the stat tables. I wish I had the skills but I simply don't.

    Thank you, guys!

Actually, since it did take longer than I'm sure it should have (with a lot of manual work), I wanted to ask any of our experienced tourney organizers (James [jimbean346], Paul [alosso], or anyone else?), for some advice.

It should be possible to do an array formula that pulls the right data from the master sheet (e.g. 2nd Round scores) into each of the Special Prize stat tabs. I know how to do this in Excel, but google docs spreadsheets don't seem to work the same way. How do you guys set up your spreadsheets for multiple round events where you want to accumulate results automatically in an overall leaderboard? Can anyone pass on an example? Thanks!

I've less experience in Google docs than you Corwyn. :)

I'll PM you to keep the thread clear.

    Round 2

    Jimbean346 = 70

    Puholino = 72

Great game to be a part of and had the putters fired slightly better, we'd have both had a chance to be comfortably in the 60's. Highlights really start from about minute 37 of the video through to 12th (which was a disaster lol).

Jure was denied a HIO on 8 with a brutally unfortunate flagstick 2 inch job and then we backed it up both with eagles on 9. Jure displayed an amazing touch around the green and saved himself on numerous occasions with excellent shots to within 5ft of the pin.

I gave myself more scoring chances but missed birdie putts on 11 and 13 were really costly. An untimely client call at work lead to a misjudgement on 17 but I made up for the mistake with a good putt for bogey.

Great fun and really nice playing with Jure!

PS: no ideas re Google docs question Corwyn; I had support in the background for the Tour with others helping out to set up all the docs needed.

It was a very fun round and I was enjoying great company. The 72 was better than both my practice rounds, although it could've been better if not for my own stupidity (double bogey on hole 1 for trying to play a hero). And I guess I should've pulled the flag on #8, but who would've expected for that to happen.

Edit: Lol, I must have managed to send myself an already saved replay (wrong one, lol)

Luckily I started to slowly get the hang of that damn putter, so I was able to save par on the 18th.

But I should say I scooped up the most of luck on this round and should've never been that close. Thanks again to James for being a great playing companion and for streaming the match (my first TV appearance, lol). Also no need for screenshots that way, which is good, cause I can't take them. Best of luck to him and everyone else in the final 2 rounds.

Well, Jörg (johehejo) and I played our 2nd Round at St. Andrews this morning (I ran out of time to post right after... had to race to collect kids from school):

    Corwyn: 70  johehejo: 80

That was my first-ever round under par in a Tough-It-Out tourney, woohoo! ... but It was grueling... I think we got a mixed bag in terms of winds, some really horrible: 31mph headwind on Road Hole, 26mph headwind on #7 (where I hit the other fwy successfully and eventually scrambled a par, but Jörg found OB en route to a triple), 25mph headwind on #4 where neither of us could reach green as a result, and the worst wind possible on #14... 31mph SW causing palpitations as we flirted with OB following the route up the wrong fairway. The times when we got tailwinds didn't seem to be that helpful, lol! #1 and #2 I find harder with a tailwind. #12 was our other tailwind (with some sidewind), and in combo with the back pin, was awkward... But the rest were sidewinds, which was OK!

For me, it was a fairly solid round that could have been great if more putts had dropped. I'd managed -5 in a 2 9s practice... but also several 9s much worse! For some reason, 15 foot seemed to be my magic length (except on the last, boo!). I sunk 3 at that length, but missed a very makeable 16ft on #11, 12 footer on #9 (failing to birdie that crucial hole... I'd left myself between clubs on tee shot), and just missing an 11 footer on #5, and 12 footer on #14 meant I failed to birdie either par5. Another 12 footer for birdie was missed on #2, but that was crazy sidehill, but the most annoying miss was a 6 footer on #6 after a beautiful punch approach over the ridge.

My only bogey came on #13, when I got an odd result from what I thought was a perfect tee shot, fractionally missing ding against a strong right-to-left and against wind. It flew way left almost falling into the first bunker, and from there I was uphill and just too far away. After going in fescue and failing to make the green, I was mighty relieved to sink a curling 8 footer for single bogey.

Apart from two unfortunate closing bogeys, and a tough time on #2, and #7, Jörg had played really nice, steady golf, just the putter coming between him and a nice score. He played #13 perfectly, bouncing his approach on to 6ft below the hole... but the putt stopped agonizingly short.

    Here are my screenshots:

Thanks for the company for these 2 rounds, Jörg!  Good luck in the rest of the tourney!

Here is a Status Check on the 2nd Round:

With just over 3 days left to complete Round 2 (deadline midnight PST Sunday 1/27), we have 18 posted 2nd round scores on the leaderboard. 13 players are still to complete their St. Andrews round.

Pairings still to play Round 2 are:

    SPINO1  &  barrybelfast

    MBaggese  &  TeeWade

    hyena64  &  bhoese

    MatildaIgaly  &  MizzyMan

    Camotto  &  Macduff10

    Wassernixe  &  FairwayRuepel68

Phaxda  &  marker   (this will likely be over the weekend)

Please indicate in the thread whether or not you have scheduled a time to play, or if you need any help or a marker. Thanks!

Olympic will be open for the 3rd Round starting Saturday 1/26: but... you'll need to wait ... as, for 3rd and 4th rounds, we will re-pair players based, as closely as possible on leaderboard position ...

... how will this work, you may ask?

Well, it will be a little tricky with this time overlap, and so many players still to complete. Nonetheless, my plan is to make groups of players within approx 6 shots of each other, and then let you arrange to play your 3rd Round with anyone within your grouping with similar time availability.

IMPORTANT: For this to work, everyone's Time Availability as indicated on the signup sheet has to be correct! Please check what's listed for you here. If your times have changed, fill out the form again. It will make a new entry that I can update in the master spreadsheet.

    Thanks!

    Corwyn

You don't say! I'm a stay-at-home dad, and it's much, much harder work than when I was being paid to be in an office... And I can't imagine doing it as a single parent!

How are you finding St. Andrews... ? Anticipating getting round under par?

Haven't practiced yet with the starters, but did a few RG's on the back nine...seems tame enough with real clubs and medium winds...but starters and High winds?...anybody's guess!

I prefer to just take my pain, not get it too early...lol

We have been playing some skins with starters though, so kinda have an idea about the clubs.
