    Thanks James!

I know this has been said before, but if James would only give himself the chance to warm up with these clubs, he could wipe the floor with all of us. He had a rocky opening third, but then played quite beautifully, but was unlucky to catch a couple of nasty tree branches, and paid a heavy price.

His birdie on #13 was perfection itself. I've added in my screenshots primarily to prove his ctth on #13 of 18ft tying Dazza, and to show the fuller detail.

I had a couple of nice shots, irrelevant of course (as a marker) but enjoyable nonetheless: unlikely putt from the fringe on #8, a GIR on #14, and a sweet full bs 70 on #17. The birdie on the last btw was pure luck, bouncing out of the fringe to 6ft.

So, now there is just Kurt and Neil to play their back 9 on Sunday, and Mac to get her marked round in now that she's back in Boston, and hopefully recovered from her encounter with Californian snakes.

I've taken a look at Player Pairings for Round 4 at Merion, and remarkably it seems possible to do them very much according to the Leaderboard.

There are several games that will have to wait till weekend overlap, but it looks as if it will work, and with plenty of special prizes to play for as well as the major placings, should be a fascinating finale. Do note the special prize standings in the tabs at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Here is the Draft outline of Player Pairings... I'm just wanting to check on a couple of overlaps before writing out the full list in the forum. Please do shout out if your time availability has changed in any way for this final week.

    Thanks, Corwyn

Please do check your timings and see if these pairings will work for you. And do note that several only have good overlap at the weekend.

It was a judgment call I made to try and vary our partners, where possible, and pair up people according to leaderboard position (and also, in some cases, people vying for the same special prize).

    4th Round Pairings:

All details are on this new sheet of Time Availability

Please do use this new sheet, as a couple of players' availability has shifted this week. I marked for James last night and his internet connection was fine, so I'm hoping it will work to assign him a real partner this week. James, please let Inigo and us know if there are any hiccups.

Oddly enough, this is my first ever Ace on any course, and I'm fairly certain its my first ever Eagle at Merion as well.  Too bad it was only in a practice round and it doesn't count LOL.

Olympic B-9 for Neil and I,   I played my first practice round of the tourney today to prep up for the back 9 holes and shot a miserable 42 so i wont be practicing for Merion R-4, LOL.

Highlight for me today, lets go to hole 18 where I stiffed my 2nd to 14 feet 6" above the cup, gave the ball about 6' of roller and blew past by 7', missing the par putt coming back for a 3putt bogey............head down and headed to the clubhouse for many beers.

Here is my lies shot, but I thought it was also showing green speed but I now see it isn't.

Although from Kurts account of his 3 putt on 18 you can tell it was tournament.....Oh and sorry Kurt, I had to rush from my putt on 18 and sort the kids some toast for supper.

Oh yeah and I managed to birdie 18....which was the only thing i did right in the round.
