I agree, driver wedge was pretty much how many birdies can I make in a row. However, pounding 3 iron after 3 iron sucks donkey balls. We need to bump the tees up at least 20 yards just to make it bearable. If WGT did not have the foresight for what they have created , they will go by the wayside. People will not continue to play shooting a couple under par, and having to overcome a bogey every round due to adverse wind conditions or a deviation from 200+ yards out. I feel the game has become a grind ( my real life provides enough of that) and does not bring the kind of joy that it used to. I love the new challenge, but in certain wind conditions the game is just unfair. Btw you can keep the new legend ball, it's a farce. My honest opinion is that WGT made WAY to many people legends who were really just GOOD players. JB

If we're going to have a 290-300 yard driver, it really needs to be restricted to legends.

I'm not a Legend, but I have to agree. WGT shouldn't make a 300 yard driver accessible for anyone but Legend players. I'm a Tour Master, and my ping i15 driver is a bit long on some holes already. I have to choke down on a few holes on each course. I wouldn't like any longer driver then I already have and I think other Tour Masters would agree. Not trying to rub it in, I'm just in agreement with you Owen.

I'm not quite sure, but did the Tour Master tees get pushed back a bit after the recent update, can anyone confirm this?

Please, this is a game, not RL golf. A game is supposed to provide entertainment and fun.   If you want to compare the scores of the best of the best on WGT to PGA tour players fine.  But that is only 50 to 75 of the 800 or so Legends.  I'm one of the 725-750  players who are not in the best of the best category.

How many of the TMs and Masters saying there shouldn't be a driver for Legends would in real life play their Saturday round every week at Oakmont with US Open tees and greens for fun??

I'm playing less WGT weekly tournaments, those used to be fun, now its hitting 3W/3I into/or with 18 to 28 mph winds, or on the shorter holes trying to stop a wedge/9I with a 20mph tailwind on tournament hard greens.  That is not fun for me.  I don't need that challenge.  Driver/wedge Lil' Rob, is still a challenge for many of us thank you.

    Back on Sept. 7th...

    WGTAdmin:
Previous to this release we got a lot of feedback that the best players were finding the game to be less challenging and need something more.'

WGT never heard that from me!  Yet me and 700 other not-the-best-of-the-best Legends were put back on Oakmont/St.Andrew/Kiawah/BPB Open championship tees and told to "embrace the challenge".   That's BS!

Many of the 800 Legends have cut down their playing time or left.  Almost half the Legends have not reached level 40 in 6 weeks. Obviously, our interest is waning and you need to find a way to make this GAME fun for us again.

And while your at it, does your greens keeper need to resurface the tournament greens after every group?

I hope you read this WGT!  Sounds to me like there are many Tour Masters who are "finding the game to be less challenging and need something more."  Put 'em on the black tees!! LOL

And Richy, I compared your blogs scorecard from August to today's white tee scorecard for St. Andys front 9 and the par 4s and 5s are the same.  Can't say about the par 3s due to different pins.

LMFAO Andy, very nice job. My bitc& is not with the greens, but with missing the fairway by a tick, then having 200+ out with a 23mph headwind! JB

Good post, Andy. I really enjoy the few times a year when WGT has the "majors." Brutally difficult conditions at Oakmont, Bethpage, and SA are a great deal of fun for the majors. However, I'd rather not play in those conditions every time I tee off.

This frustration gets magnified because most legends are at a very similar skill level to many tour masters; however, these two groups tee off from radically different tee box. Honestly, my preference would be to forget about a "Legend driver" altogether (though, I do think it would make a nice incentive for becoming a Legend -- because, let's face it; why would anyone want to become a Legend with the current setup) and just bring our tee boxes up closer to the TMs. Save those very back tees for the majors.

As a bit of a side note, I'd like to see the Tournament and Championship greens saved for the majors as well. I'm actually getting used to those fast speeds, so it's not a big deal. However, it will kind of ruin the unique challenge of the majors.

    I appreciate that Andyson.

I wouldn't mind teeing it up from the black tees, but it would be a reversal of what the Tour Master is facing in reference to driving. There would be no need to choke down, that's for sure.

On a lighter note Andyson, the only thing more gay then two dudes on a motorcycle, is a dude calling a man Richy who's name is Richard. Richy sounds better coming from SweetiePie. Know what I mean?  lol !!   : )

P.S. Is that a Zamboni machine on the green?

    seveking:

The reason why there is not a handicap system is because the best players are the ones who deserve to win. Simple as that. They are the best because they have practised more than other players and they deserve to be at the top of all tournaments, just like the best players are in real life.

A good handicap system would not create the above any more that the current tier system does, as the whole post theme is that top Tour Masters are now at a great advantage over Legends when it comes to competing against each other because of the tee positions.  Many tournaments could still be based on gross (actual) score with the tier effect being implemented with handicap divisions if required.  However, it does open the door for handicap competitions, which could perhaps be restricted to free play tournaments with low reward, and would actually make tournaments alot more appealling to more people as having a good round for you would put you in with a shout.  I would also allow people the option of playing handicap matchplay which would be a good addition in my opinion.

For those not familiar with real golf handicap system, in UK certainly, it has the following features which I think would be transferable to WGT

    - Much quicker to reduce your handicap than increase it, limiting ability to sandbag

    - Each course and each standard of tee has a Standard Scratch Score (what a 0 handicap would expect to shoot) so differing difficult of courses can be accounted for.

Well Andy, I don't know why you believe I'm a kid, but I must be the oldest 42 year old kid anyone has ever met, or seen.

You got weird ways Andy, it must be your old age. Creepy!
