Does wind have any impact on putts and if so; how can one possibly judge it's effects?

The general consensus is that it does not have an effect.

More noticeable on long putts in high wind...

    bhoese:

But first, I wanted to find out if I need to be concerned about wind.

Wind will definitely be a factor.

As you can see, the wind slowed the top group a tad and pushed the bottom group a little to the right.

I think it does have an impact - and I generally overestimate it.

Yes, it does. All you have to do is play that putting challenge and notice how the putts change from game to game. It's where I first confirmed that it does but I only consider it on the really long putts, particularly on the links courses.

Not a bad example.   That putt from the back there is usually dead straight, just have to ding it, which can be pretty hard at times   lol.

4 different wind directions - all putts starting from the same spot - all dinged - all same power - all same aiming point (shown by the aiming marker).

The red star shows the centre of the overall cluster.

I think it is pretty clear that each grouping tends to spread in the direction of the wind. Hence wind does influence putts.

The wind DEFINITELY does have an effect.
