Firstly I am content in playing the game as is, for free, earning bonus credits when the opportunity arises. With my first bonus for turning pro i bought one of those token upgrade drivers and its shiny and gold!!! haha but seriously I haven't bought anything else.

I just got my total up to 500 credits and i am wondering if it is worth spending or not? I think my iron play is fine, i can hit some good approaches and i have gotten the hang of the putter pretty much. Sure id love more spin, get some more balls to slow up on those greens, but I feel like on some holes i just don't have the distance off the tee to hit the par 4 in two.

I am also aware that putting makes or breaks a round so is that where a purchase should be made? at what level does an upgrade make the worthwhile difference?

should i hold the money until further funds and wait til i can get a better iron set?

thanks for any feedback and club suggestions folks

    cheers

A driver is always a good place to start, followed by a putter (DON'T BUY THE SPIDER!!!).  Any ball in the Pro Shop is better than the free ones.  You may want to save your credits at this point and wait until you make Master to invest your credits.  That is if you do not plan on buying any credits.

Once you're a Master you will at a minimum need a better driver, fairway wood(s), and a putter.  Irons won't hurt either.  Many players have made Master only upgrading a few clubs versus all of them.  Best bet to do what works for you.  You'll get a lot of feedback on the best clubs to get so on and so forth.  In the end, it's about what works best for you.

    Best of luck!

Personally I'd start with 3 satin wedges, evenly spaced. Say the 50 yard, 77 yard and the 98 yard. If you hit close you won't need so many putts. Also they're cheap.

I personally wouldn't upgrade the putter till u can get the daytona rossa, it's awesome, and i'd use the beginner putter instead of the starter one till then, the slower meter makes it much better.

i'd go for the level 42 ping 60 yd wedge it's so versatile, and maybe a 77yd satin wedge as well. your starter clubs are fine to get you to the master tier. But once you start to spend it's hard to stop.

    Happy shopping :))

The one club that will stay with you forever AND change your game instantly is the Satin 60 degree wedge. With that your up and downs for par will increase dramatically, especially if you lay up to it.  GL

first purchase I ever made is still in my bag and gets used way too much, 54 degree satin wedge.  I use the thing on almost every hole sometimes, unfortunately to try to save par, lol, and I will never need to replace it... unlike balls, mid level driver and irons and putters.  The higher level putters are worth waiting for; I've seen legends putt great with the starter and even beginner putter in random Alt. shot matches.

btw, I have never bought a sleeve of balls that I didn't gift to someone, try developing your game with range balls, saves tons of frustration and the need to spend $ when you run out.

I bought the Pro driver, the one that's and 250credits and boy does that make things easier. I don't plan on getting anymore clubs unless I get into the Master stage.

The thing that will make the biggest difference for you at the moment will be a longer hitting driver.  However, the drivers you can buy at the moment will only be an interim as you will need the L58+ drivers if/when you make Master tier.  That's why I'd suggest the WGT Pro Driver as it's cheap but gives you the extra distance.

Next on the shopping list would be wedges.  The mid-level Ping Tour (L41/42) or TM Satin (L38/39) wedges are good all the way to top tiers so these will stay with you.  They are real shot saves on approaches and short game.  Suggest getting 60 and 64 degree first as these will replace you starter SW and LW.  Will need a 54 degree eventually but distance is similar to starter PW so will only need if/when you eventually upgrade to longer irons to fill the gap.

Check out an old thread that I got my guidance from but have found to be still valid.  Thread is called 'Buying Clubs - A Guide from Hack to Master'.  Original post suggests specific clubs but where it suggests a TM or Ping the equivalent other brand would be just as good.  As you will see from rest of thread opinion is very divided over which are the 'best' clubs.

    Hope this helps.
