Back in the 1990's, I played Links (Access Software) and not only could you impart sidespin by opening or closing your clubface, you could also adjust ball position and the direction of your swing (in to out or out to in).  Impressive!

Oh man, those were the days. Can you imagine what this game would be like if those controls back then were used here? No ball with a dot on it, you wanted spin, adjust something in your swing or stance. And every game was with UELs. You really had to know golf to play then.  :-)

Scott, can you do it with an iron shot?
    No.

Missing the ding line left or right is best used to compensate for a crosswind in this game in my opinion

Agree. For as long as I have been playing this game, missing to the first line from the ding on the upwind side will straighten out a drive in a 20 mph crosswind. That same technique also straightens out a flop when you miss early to that line. :-)

The game is easy enough as it is IMO

I can curve the ball left or right, with or against the wind, and it plays like I expect a draw and fade to play. I can do this with irons and woods equally. It is as simple as that.

Tip for new players: Don't just read about this stuff, or take someones word for it. Go try it yourself.

    No.

I know, as I just spent another half hour trying to curve the ball flight with my IRONS. That's on top of the hours I spent testing this in the past as I've linked the treads in the previous posts.

You cannot draw or fade the irons.

While that is NOT realistic, my guess is due to the common occurrence of players who miss the ding while trying to hit the ding, the resultant unwanted draw or fade would be a deterrent to the game.

I don't necessarily conclude that a realistic draw/fade option of an iron approach would make the game easier, but perhaps harder, requiring more knowledge of real golf (a hard game) -

but I do believe that the main factor that makes this game less difficult is the slowing down of the meter via proshop balls etc. Using cheap balls or the starter ball makes the game more challenging.

In many golf games of the past which don't offer this feature to slow down the meter, the ultimate challenge of those games IMHO is not calculations (which can be deciphered) but the proper execution of the meter hit. (usually a 3 click meter)

But BP if you can record an iron shot w/ a notable curved ball flight (carry) on a legitimate video which records the meter (e.g. bandicam, hypercam) and show the early or late hit (not just a replay) I will offer a free sleeve of balls of your choice.

    good luck

    Hi JF,

Apologies If I've misunderstood you, No offence meant but If you find the game too easy & you want It to play more like real golf you could always try playing the Uneven Lie's version of the game. Four of us recently did so & It brought us down to earth with a bang but we had a great laugh

Yeah, it was another poster that said 'too easy', I said 'less difficult'.

Playing on my old laptop went south a while ago around the flash memory leak/html 5 time, and since WGT 'upgrades' the game stutters around the 4-6th holes and then locks up.

I hope to upgrade soon but this Dell is still viable w/ other games and operations.  (although some people are reporting problems even after an upgrade)

Not that I don't like a challenge, I was often streaming my games on twitch which was a real challenge w/ the CPU at 97% or higher during MP games. The meter lagged but I was getting used to it though most games were crash and burn.

I did get in some putting practice on WGT without any freezing and that is a welcome new feature that I found enjoyable.

    Hi JF,

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was multitasking at the time, Playing an AS game, chatting In that game while talking to the other player's on Discord & posting to The Forum, I should stick to one thing at a time.

Putting Is my favourite part of the game, In AS when my P either comes up short or goes long & leaves me a long putt with a lot of break I'm actually rubbing my hands, I love the challenge, at first It was like how close can I get this & now I'm disappointed If they don't have a look
