By credit wins, I believe he means that if you do well in Ready Go's or tournaments (i.e. winning credits) that could result in a person tiering up even when the person doesn't have the required number of rounds.

If by "credit wins" you mean playing "Challenge" on Match Play or Skins, I only did that once and I lost.

I've never played in Ready-Go tournaments. I have played a few CTTH tournaments years ago, and didn't even know I could win anything from them, and I did end up winning a few somehow. Not sure how that would affect my score though.

Then you were bumped up because of your match play wins. And no one is suggesting that credit wins affect average score, just the tier. Match play wins, however, do affect your average score.

    From the FAQ:

Do Match Play scores affect my Average Score or Tier ranking?

Yes, Match Play games do affect your score average and your tier ranking. If you play a match play game against a player of higher tier and win the match your score average will be affected which could affect your tier ranking.

    PaulTon:

No, a MP win against a higher tiered player can reduce your average but doesn't count as a ranked round towards tiering up.

Only ranked rounds of strokeplay count towards saturation/tiering up..

Technically it does affect no of ranked rounds(not that its visible anywhere), because thats what reduces your average.

It does affect the effective ranked rounds and hence the average as well. Basically that chart which says min 40 RR as master with min 63 average always have to be met. No one tiers up "early" due to MP and credit wins.

With the reservation that these subjects have not been clarified to the bottom:

    Both ain't true, AFAIK.

With the former (match play), players get a substantial reduction in average and they may apparently slip through the tiers without ranked play.. But, this effect seems to vanish with the number of wins.

With the latter (credit wins), players get a massive reduction in average AND a reduction in ranked rounds necessary. They may tier up prematurely.

And credit wins means all credits won in the game: in tournaments, RGs, Brackets, as well es winnings in challenge MP games. So, when a TM beats a Legend in a challenge match, it will give him a double push.

Disclaimer: Don't know about the typical mobile games.

Made it to Tour Master after beating 3 or 4 people in scored Match Play with a higher tier than me.

This is where we probably have different POVs. I don't think the ranked rounds necessary ever changes.

What does change is the baseline numbers used to calculate the average of the player i.e. # of shots played and effective rounds played. These baseline numbers are altered, with higher weightage to effective rounds played, by MP and credit wins and achieving awards.
