Firefox updated itself earlier today and I now have zero bookmarks, apart from the default ones.  Pretty annoying as at no point was it suggested I back them up before the update.  I have an old backup somewhere, I need to hunt for it but many of my spreadsheet bookmarks aren't on it.

Come to think of it, annoyed doesn't come close to describing how I feel about this.

    Anyone else had the same?

Have you tried a system restore to a date before the update?

    Worth a try Zio, thanks.

Switch off my wi-fi and save the bookmarks before Firefox updates.

I'll let you know if it works.......

Do you have another browser on your PC with the same bookmarks?

Do you have a Firefox account synced to your browser?

Have a look through this folder to see if you can find any bookmark back-ups...

    C:\Users\*your username*\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

See this post for better advice.

I know it's for US, but you must have something similar.

Cheers MM. Google is my source for most things, so thanks to all the good folks who put stuff out there to search for.  ; )

Going to add a bit more to this as advising people to look in the folder I suggested, is about as useful as the proverbial chocolate teapot, hehe.

I've got the latest version of Firefox (61.0) and this works for that, so hope it works for older versions too.

With FireFox open, hit CTRL + SHIFT + B, this opens your library dialogue box. In the dialogue box, click the 'Import and Backup' button, then hover over the 'Restore' menu option. This should reveal a list of backups (if you have any) that you can restore from. Click on the one you want to use to restore your bookmarks.

    Thanks guys.

Not only did I lose my bookmarks, now returned thankfully, but I'm also logged out of every site I have an account for and my log in details are no longer saved.

I've got most of them sorted, the ones I need anyway but I've had to click Forgotten password? a few times.......
