It's the way the pictures have been taken: By photograph.
Now it's clearly impossible to have a foto of every possible angle, that's why quite a few views are from the side. Alas, when it comes to putting, there is a good reverse angle for 99% of the situations, good enough to judge the break and sometimes good to putt from this picture. BTW: Short cut for reverse (or zoom on the FW) is the space tab.
There are some weird views on elevated greens, STA## 8+11 (the Par 3s) come into mind. There they used the regular setup: camera at guy's eyes, and missed the opportunity to elevate the camera to get a view of the green surface. Therefore, we only see the heels and a§§ of the avatar.
There are also places where a picture could not be taken, i.e. KIA#17. When you're pin high on the right, there is no view from behind because they didn't go into the lake. Same for other wet locations, e.g. on CCC.
