  One thing I haven't seen mentioned about the severity of lie when flopping is you had better hit with some power.  You won't get out of the rough/sand in the following scenario....

  8yds to hole.  In 30/40+ rough.  You figure with half meter, your flop will go about 7yds and trickle down nicely.  If you half meter it, you don't get out.

  I think someone made three short game vids that mention those tough lies when flopping, etc.

  the meter is cheesy in this game 65 percent is like 45 and so on

  I've gathered a lot of statistics on the meter and it's very accurate and linear for the three sets of clubs that I've had.  (The meter really represents clubhead speed, though it's calibrated in distance.  Therefore, there has to be a mapping and they've hit it very well.)

  The problem with short shots from bad lies is that there's a factor involved that impacts both the clubhead speed and the spin.  Shooting half the distance, by the meter, won't get you half as far, from a bad lie.  A greater part of the energy is absorbed before impact with the ball.

  I agree to both of you.

  Except of the putter, the meter is cheesy or non-linear as I'd put it. The outcome of choked shots is likely to be meagre, shots below 70% should be avoided. Exception: I execute punches out of green bunkers down to 45-50 %.

  Depending on the type of shot the influence of a lie may be more or less. Full, chip & flop are highly sensible to higher lie percentage while punch & pitch are less.

  Same applies to the club in hand: Longer clubs and woods show more lie effects, shorter clubs and hybrids less.

  This is another replay I saved ..... Flop

  8yds from the pin... in 30/40 rough... full b/spin... using Cle wedge and Nike golf balls.

  Very tricky shot using the Chip or punch..  sometimes the Flop Shot can be the best (for me anyway)

  As mentioned before...  hit the reverse view in chip/putt /punch view to see what the roll on the green is doing and aim acoording to that taking the wind in to the mix aswell.

  In this shot didn't have to move the aim to much..... Clicked just short of full(20yrd) about 17yrds I think, and then clicked on the line just before the ding.

  When in these types of situations... never be too scared to hit the ball... remembering,  in real life when playing golf, the same with playing this game,  the mind can be your biggest problem :)

  If it doesn't work... whatever shot you do, remember for the next time.

  Punch is not a trick shot .  Essential for gaps in the wedges and for high cross winds .  Also great for 52-35 yrs .  Great to have in the locker .  Would hardly ever use a flop , mainly use pitch (full backspin ) 25 below
