I know I have not been playing long enough (4months) to be able to be taken seriously on any gameplay comments I make lol..But..

The ball you use has a massive influence on distance obviously, and the best is not the specific distance balls imho.

I used the lvl 71 Nikes as soon as I got to that rank, and found them surprisingly dissappointing when it came to distance.

Just in the course of normal gameplay (skins mostly), I found the level 48 XI-X Nikes(bounce@260-265) travelled further on average than the lvl 71XI-X(bounce@250-255)..or maybe it's just me.

    I now use the lvl 37 Tour i (s) Callies(bounce@265-270) and make many 320-330+ drives,seem to work well with my G20 lvl 59+ (270yds)

Do you feel that club/ball combo has a major/minor influence??..Is there a certain club/ball combination that is better than all others??.

Knowing what you have like the back of your hand  is the key. They all work to some extent, just depends on the situation and the type of game you play.

I will say your travels here are going to wind up with High lofted clubs and balls that spin. Then the real fun begins.  :-)

    Thanks for your input Jim,

I definitely foresee that lol.. I am already using the spin callies, and the G20 lvl 59 irons(high),have the Hybrid(high& used for c.t.t.h) too and Driver, but driver only med/high,(K15's for Blitz).

My next buys are the Clevelands,Pings have been good up to now,(better than the lower level Cleve's imo,I play the 3 wedges)...next Driver for me the lvl 81 G20(high)..and maybe finally the R11irons,maybe the Driver too,..but I worry there may be the need for the slow meter balls then, and I really like the ones I use.

I've had some nice aces with backspin,..#1 @ St.A's (148yds),about 10 days ago is one of my favourite aces so far.

(btw, I need to find out how to save more replays, have started to delete B.O.P aces to make way for longer ones)

I guess, ultimately, I am looking for a way of fighting off the inevitable with the R11/Slow meter Callies or Max balls way...It seems there is no other option.

I am an avid follower/user of the great advice you guys give on the forums and have been since I started.

    I am hoping I have missed something,and maybe can stay with the G20s Driver & Irons/RBZs 3WD/GhostSpider & Cally Tour i (s) balls

Could I survive from the tips with the gear i have grown comfortable with I suppose is my real question.

Your on the right track...but one suggestion is to dump the hybrid and pick up another wedge ...which on depends on how long you plan on keeping the K15 irons, BTW these are what your equipment says you are using.. Am I missing seeing the L59 G20's in your bag you mentioned above?

Nope..you missing noticing what I said in my post...no problem ;)

I use the K15s for C.T.T.H tours, along with the G20 Hybrid, that is the only time I have that set up,when I am playing the tours or Blitz...If u notice..i have the K15 3wd and the Rbz 3WD also on,they are for specific holes.

    I play exactly as I said..G20 lvl 59 driver/RBZ lvl 69 3WD...52'/58'/64' Ping wedges..G20 lvl 59 irons and the lvl 66 Ghost..exactly as it says in my post :)

    But tyvm for the input.

As for your orginal question, no I dont think there is a magical mix of ball and clubs, but this varies player to player of preference. The most important thing is to know how far the ball carries and rolls for each club in different conditions.

I use the slower meter callies, they work for me and I know how the ball reacts most of the time. I use the R11 driver (lvl88) and dont have a problem with the meter speed with most balls (starter ball excepted lol) and will get the irons but the slightly slower meter balls do help nail the ding on a more regular basis. I think at some stage upgrading is inevitable to stay competitive.

But there is nothing wrong with your equipment for your level but I am surprised you use 2 different sets for different formats - it means you need to know how 2 different sets react.

For the record I do not consider a holed fairway shot an  ace, being a purist I only consider holing a tee shot an ace but nice shooting.

sure u can survive from the back tees with what u r comfortable with .. a good CC buddy of mine is doin' just great with the lvl59 G20's from the back tees ..

it all really depends what u wanna achieve here ..

for me right now it's more about havin' fun with the guys i know .. play a/s with them regularly .. i play a lot less ranked games, maybe a round a day or every other day ..

i've played the odd credit tourney, but will likely only start dabbling more in those after i've reached lvl90 ..

the thing is, IMHO, if u really wanna end up being competitive and earn good placings in RG's or other tourneys, u gotta have & get used to the really high trajectory irons .. that would be the Burner 2.0 and R11 irons right now .. which means at some point u gonna have to take the plunge and get used to the fast mtr clubs ..

    Thanks Atlanti.

To be honest I too can't wait for a "real" h.i.o.....got very close on a par 4 at St.A's the other day(2yds..missed a 6.1 ft for eagle,my putting is another issue lol).

I use the 2 set ups,and try both sets and seem to always do better with the K15s in blitz,so keep hold of them for that sole purpose, means I take copious notes and have a library of notebooks already.

Guess upgrading is gonna have to happen,ty.

    Thanks Chris,

I too just like to play at the moment, but i will definitely want to get competitive at some stage.I am enjoying the game for what it is for now,and even more so the fun of the free tours, trying to better my personal bests each month, more so than attempting to win one.

i will take your advice and go for the R11s when able.I did try the i15's over the free rental weekend,so I think I will be able to cope with the meter speed, but will take a lot of practise/mapping to become comfortable with the faster meter and new clubs, but WGT I accept is all about the learning process..be a lot harder without all the great help and advice available on these forums...thanks.
