I would sell my advice, but, unfortunately, my advice is not that great. Get on the green in regulation and one putt. Beware of used-car salesmen and beautiful women. Send money.

    lonnieskinner:
Go to the leader boards for the tour legends and legends and see what ball they play. This will answer all your questions.

There's no question if you want to seriously compete you need the good ones. Players are just too good with them to give up that kind of advantage.

It comes down to $ for some and it can get expensive. I just came off an AS game where the ops hit consecutive drives OB at RSG-one Nike and one Callaway.  I could do that 10 times for that many credits.  :-)

Often interesting to see who responds to a thread. You got some great people/advice here. I decided to wade into the shallow end since you & I share the same tier.

    Short answer - heck yeah.

Then again, accuracy from tee to green can be had with every ball I've played - it is up to the player and, to paraphrase WGTPizza, do what you need to do to hit the 'ding' consistently. IMO, this game is about accuracy first and foremost.

I can't shell out cash to pay for Nike or Calloway balls. I played a sleeve of Callies that were awarded to me and almost wish I hadn't - they were that good. Game-changing. I gotta purge that memory...

I see what skilled players do with Nike/Calloway balls & the R11 irons and my eyes spin in their sockets. It's amazing to behold. I don't play for credits; I spill no tears. Rather, I compete as best I can, applaud the wonderment of watching players toss darts at pins, rejoice when my assigned partner & I win an alt-shot match, and have a lot of fun in the process.

Mr. YJ mentioned WGT-SD balls. If credits are an issue and you don't need your ball of choice to slow the meter, then that's your ticket right there.

    Long answer - heck yeah.

As Jim stated the 65 credit Tour-SD ball is fine IF you can handle the meter speed. That is a big IF. Some people have reflexes good enough to handle the no feel balls. Frankly at my age I struggle mightily with the Tour-SD ball. Sure there are days when I can ding it fairly well but most days I can't. The Tour GI-SD ball is great for most people who have trouble with the faster meter. You will notice I said most. I even have trouble with those most days because at 66 my reflexes seem to be slowing down day by day. So I choose to use the Legend Callaways just for the slower meter. What it comes down to is how much do you want to spend ,how much you can afford to spend and what level of competitiveness you want. While I am talking about meter speed, remember that if you will hold  your mouse at the top for 2 to 3 seconds giving you processor time to settle down you will have a smoother more consistent meter speed. No it won't be slower but it won't jerk just as it starts and throw off your timing. It took me ages to realize that.

here is the deal. this is a case of preference, and what you are trying to accomplish. If you are suffering from meter inconsistency then the max ball pros are going to be your best choice. they will slow your meter and give you decent spin. If the meter is not your problem but you suffer from missing the green due to lack of stick go with the Nike. if you suffer from a combination go with the Nike. they are the most balanced and highest performing ball on tour. once again what are you trying to accomplish? If you are playing just for fun then don't waste your money playing any good balls period!!! it will only save you 3 to 5 strokes at best. on the other hand if you are playing Match play challenges, Blitz, RG, Skins, then Top Performance balls are a MUST. Don't be the fool that goes into a gun fight with a knife. takes money to win money and when you get good you will win more than you lose and price of balls won't be a factor... :) this is when the game becomes the most fun
