Sorry bud - did not know that it would block non-cc members: here it is:

Hi - for those that may not be aware of a little tip to play Oakmont #4 with a better shot at making eagle.....

If you have any kind of wind at your back, then you can reach (well, I can with the R11S) the fairway to the far right of the screen (its also the landing zone for the drive on the 5th hole).  This then opens up the green for your 2nd shot - taking the left bunker complex and the little stepping stones bunkers out of play.

Just be aware that anywhere to the right of where my aim marker is in the pic below is OB - so watch for cross winds (in both directions).  I have stuffed it up when the wind was right to left, and I allowed slightly too much for the wind. If the ball lands anywhere near the right edge of your screen, thats the hole nicely toasted.....

Here's a replay of the kind of approach you should expect (mine just came in a little hot):

I'll definitely have to try that. Hopefully I'll play it better than STA 14 where I've been OOB a few times playing for the other fairway!

I use the silver post on the right of alt/fairway as a guide..go inside that and I never been OB...also I found the second shot if you hit rough on drive, the 2nd shot can be OB further down the alt f/way ???(true or just my bad shot ?), so I always hit to main f/way..(if that makes sense)  :))

Actually you can reach that hole in 2 from the correct fairway with little or no tailwind if you use T/S on your shot. I have made it several times doing that. I have never tried it from that fairway but see that it might make it easier.
