This debate has been going on for years and the same "defence" comes out everytime.

"If we had the same or similiar winds people will tell other people and......that'll help them.....somehow....."  Rubbish.

Sometimes they go even further down the insane line and argue it is "realistic".  In 25 years of comp golf I've seen the wind die or pick up (for good or bad).  I've seen it shift through about 90 degree's and gust.  But I have NEVER played in a comp with a gale in the face in the morning and the gale changing 180 degree's for the afternoon on those holes.

Random 360 degree winds is absolutely and 100% unfair.  It is also totally uneccesary.  To "see" the difference, imagine playing matchplay and both players get different 360 degree random winds on each hole.  "Hurry up dude with your 7 iron 3rd shot, I want to knock in my 5 foot eagle putt."  If he was a "defender", he'd probably throw in "don't worry dude, it'll even out....BUHAHAhAHAHA."

You consider the current situation detrimental and want it changed but don't believe the change will be much of a benefit? Your logic escapes me. Less detrimental is more beneficial by actual definition.

Now, as to reality, in single-play 'real' golf, the players get generally similar (but not precisely the same) winds. I would see nothing wrong with trying to emulate that.

Bub, if you're responding to me, God knows what you're on about in the first paragraph.

I have been advocating change to random winds since 2011 and think it would be of great benefit if they got rid of the current "polished turd" policy.

I'm just responding to your statement that the current situation is detrimental and a change would be beneficial, but not beneficial. That's a polished turd.

Care to quote my "statement" where I say change would not be beneficial.

Frankly, I couldn't care less if all of my opponents were armed with information, when wind-direction on a couple key holes can mean the difference between 1st and barely top-10 in heavy wind tournaments

No edits from me dorkie.  Either you've confused me with another poster or you need to back off the self medication.

This is the one point the 'defenders' won't get me moving on - I'm happy playing anyone over 9 or 18, (which really is what we do in RG's) but if I get headwinds on short holes, tailwinds on short 3's and someone else of roughly equal ability gets the opposite they will end up 2/3 shots better than me over 9 holes.  In a pay to enter competition thats grossly unfair.  Does it even itself out - I don't think so, other players say yes it does, but is that really a fair reason for it?
