Also - when you do short bunker shots you need to read the green almost as if you were putting. The ball will roll...

    DarSum:

TM 50 yrd wedge is full bs just under 2 avatar movements lol Try taking the yardage x .3

So for that shot 23 yrds - 23 x .3 = 29 yrds So whatever shot/club you have in your bag that goes 29 yrds.

I believe you probably meant yardage x 1.3 (not .3), Dar.  As it happens, that's the value I've settled on for longer (>25yds or so) bunker shots from 30/40 CCC sand. In practice, I add the distance to the cup in yds + elev in ft., then multiply by 1.3. That is with CG wedges and Nike balls, so other equipment may vary.

    Example: 25 yd bunker shot to pin elevated 5 ft: (25 + 5) x 1.3 = 30 x 1.3 = 39 yd , full backspin.  Roughly 70% power, for my 64 deg wedge.

As noted by others, slope from landing area to the pin will require fine-tuning that power. About 2/3 - 3/4 of total distance is carry and the remainder is roll-out. If hitting to an uphill slope on green I'll add a bit more, if shooting to downhill slope I'll take some power off. Note that at least 1/4 of the total distance is roll-out, so to pins cut close to near edge of green you will have to accept a longer come-back putt, since you must carry to at least the fringe.

    Here's a 38 yd up 4 ft shot. 90% CG15 64 degr wedge (nominal 54 yds from fwy lies): //www.wgt.com/replay.aspx?ID=f3ef2780-0984-435e-a858-a19a00f80532.

Alternatively, for shorter shots, I like pitches from 30/40 sand, unless ruled out by having to get over a high bunker lip. You'll get similar carry/roll numbers, and ~30% reduction in 'rated' distance. Again, using 64degr CG15 in pitch mode (17yd nominal dist) 10 yd to cup, with downhill roll at finish ... full backspin, 80% ( ~ 13.5 yds nominal from fwy) aiming a few feet left of pin - and a nice coast to sandy save range //www.wgt.com/replay.aspx?ID=23a215bc-9d95-4853-9879-a19a0135f9db

Same here. the ball doesn't go anywhere in these bunkers. I tried a pitch shot from the bunker 19 yards from the pin. the wedge I selected would hit 25 yards. the ball wasn't even in deep and it went 8 yards. WTF WGT? I've been playing at BPB a lot recently and the ball flies out of the bunker any distance from the pin using any club. surely the sand in the bunkers can't be that different. even in the virtual world.

I've also tried using full swing shots from the sand on the same course. full swing with a club that hits 60 yards, just under half back swing  for a 21 yard shot allowing extra for the sand and uphill roll. the ball goes 2 yards. again the ball was hardly even in the sand as it rolled in from the fairway instead of dropping straight in. voodoo must be playing a part here I'm sure.

Hitting your shot less than 50% power is the problem. You will see much better results hitting closer to 75-80%. So for the above shot i would suggest using the punch.
