The moral of the story is, if you live in the backwaters of the globe, you have to pay to play this game if you want to play to any decent standard.

Amen my friend. You are absolutely spot on !

    You both are wrong (IMHO).

The moral of the story is you don't need to lay down hundreds of dollars to play a decent game and have a lot of fun.

I couldn't agree more about not having to invest loads of money to enjoy the game mate. The point we were trying to make was that if you live in certain parts of the world, the opportunities for free credits are often very limited, which in turn, makes it more difficult to get access to 'better equipment', without investing some money into the game.

Some people don't feel the need to obtain better equipment and are happy playing with the basic stuff, although I would suggest that the vast majority do feel the need to gradually improve what they've got. We didn't mention throwing money at the game hand over fist and therefore I feel it's a bit harsh to say that we were both wrong mate.

Sorry for being a bit harsh.

It's just that I hear a lot of people echo the somewhat same reasoning to justify ridiculous spending. Agreed that with only the carousel you would need a very long time (about 5 years to gather 10.000 credits) for top shelve clubs and a one time investment in good clubs at least is debatable and probably justifiable. The question remains do you really need 'm for a decent game ?

I see people reach legend with (partly) starter equipment, the free starter ball and a lot of patience and practice. I see a whole lot more people play expensive callaways or even max slow meter balls and upgrading their equipment with nearly every level they advance. A new toy every day (or week) as some kind of reward, just to ease the mind...... Isn't that exactly what goes wrong in a whole lot of households getting in financial trouble ?

Patience and practice gets you further then spending.
