I've played the real old course and enjoy the WGT version, except for one hole - the 7th.  If there is wind in your face, you simply cannot reach the fairway,  Get stuck in the fescue and you're done.  I was even par through 6 and faced a 19MPH wind in my face on 7.  Fescue.  Took me 8 strokes to reach the fairway.  At this point, I gave up and quit the round.  Takes the fun right out of it.

if you cant reach the straight away fairway, there is a piece of fairway to the far left that is reachable... just have to beware not to go too far left or you will be OB

I tried that.  This strip is easier to hit from a distance perspective, but is mighty narrow.  When I got into the fescue, my inclination was to use a wedge to get back into play.  I hit in the direction away from the green.  I then got spanked with an out of bounds penalty.  This is not actually out of bounds on the real course, since it's in the middle of a fairway.

I think this is a WGT problem.  As hard as they strive to match actual course conditions (such as how $%^&ing difficult it is to get out of the fescue), they should similarly place the boundaries in the correct place.

I also think it's funny that you can have a tailwind on 1, headwind on 2, tailwind on 3, etc., or tailwinds on both 9 and 10.  That shouldn't be difficult to program into the game.  I can see having a tailwind on 1, and again on 18 four hours later.

WGT wants you to buy bigger driver. :)

Any ball that goes outside of the map on the lower right side is deemed OB...the winds are random hole to hole.

With Starter or low level equipment, this hole is a PITA. The "escape" to the left isn't worth it IMHO because of the risk of OOB and the big distance to the hole. It gives no better Par chance than to play straight into the rough and lay up before the Shell bunker.

To get some better clubs will help. I got me a 3WD as a budget replacement of a driver (e.g. lvl31ish R11). Two short wedges will help, too (Pings of lvl 18 if you can't wait, or the better ones, ATV from lvl 38, Ping lvl 41). Level 41 will be at 30.000 XPs.

Be aware though that these investments may unevitably bring you to Master tier where you'll need a full set of clubs - pling, pling.
