All WGT would have to do , is program the game to allow players the option to change balls between holes , and problem solved . Of course this wont happen , as it would be too much like right .
This is not the reason IMHO.

The reason is that they don't give options in this game. No dropping options, no unplayable options, and no "change ball" option.

Of course, the latter is closely connected to business interests. The more single balls we have, the more of others are sold.

From Chad's video chat a year ago, I noted:

(at 15:20':)  default ball is given - no automatic guess & selection

This shows me that it's not the One Ball Rule.

BTW: The Mulligan is a new development: An option(!), but only in practice rounds (and profitable to the company)

The trouble with being able to change balls on the tee is you could use a distance ball for the par 5 holes, a high spin ball for short par 3 holes.  Something that is certainly not allowed in professional golf.   You have to think of all rounds on WGT as being official USGA or R&A tournament rounds, you must finish with the same type of ball you started with.

Perhaps it would be nice sometimes to swap during practice rounds but really, why?  If you're changing balls you have to remember exactly how far each one goes and how it reacts to different spin.  Far better to use one type of ball for all rounds.  I've got all sorts of balls cluttering up my bag which I may as well hit in a lake as they'll probably never be played.  Apart from the Korbel ones, they're great fun for alt shot rounds.

My tip is to find a ball you lie and can afford to play with every round and stick with it.  Then make sure you either have enough to finish any round you start or enough credits to buy more when you're down to your last.

Mainz- swapping during practice rounds in conjunction with the mulligan feature allows the individual to directly compare ball/ club combinations in certain shots.

Your final paragraph refers to finding a ball you like and stick with it. For new players who haven't been around or played as much as you or me, allowing them to practice with different balls in the same practice round will help them decide on their choice of ball more quickly. Likewise, experienced players can us it to fine tune a ball to their equipment as skills change over time.

    srellim234:
There are already too many players sandbagging and preying on other players for credits without introducing the ability to change balls in the middle of a round that counts. Entering into a competitive round based on a player's use of a low quality equipment only to have them switch to the high quality equipment after you've committed to the round will cause a lot of anguish and grief.

Even if it's allowed only after a ball runs out, it's easy for a player to count the number of hits on a ball, then use that weak ball to lure you into a game knowing he'll be switching to a high end ball by the second or third hole.

Unlimited switching of balls will allow scores to drop even lower as the most skilled players tailor the ball they play to each hole. We already have too many complaints about unrealistic scoring on this site without making it worse.

I'm sure it's been discussed .  These are all very good points, very likely scenarios and probably why it hasn't been done.  I think the cons outweigh the pros.

Many times before and since the post was made two years ago.  Think it all slowed a bit after WGT made some changes a few months ago though :)
