I was just wondering whether we'll see some other brands of club in the Pro Shop?

There are many professional golfers who's brand of choice is Adams and many who choose Cobra. These are big name brands and maybe not as well know as Callaway but big brands nonetheless and used by top players. We don't have Titlelist or Mizuno either but anyway I just wanted to suggest  these 2 brands because also I think they are visually appealing and would offer players greater variety.

You understand WGT doesn't just picks brand names and put them on the equipment? They have to sign contracts with these companies and perhaps in some cases these companies aren't willing or interested.

Yes, I understand that....so what are your thoughts or were you just being patronizing?

PR- If it was coordinated with what we discussed in the other thread regarding the club performance being less in the hands of lesser-tiered players, I could see a great opportunity to introduce new brands that companies might be willing to do.

I could see entry level clubs with the Wilson, Top-Flite, Snake Eyes, etc. label on them being introduced at entry level just like they are when you walk into a big box retailer or large sporting goods store. Such an approach would ensure the top end club market isn't just the same old thing with a brand new label. Let the companies that partnered with WGT early keep the top end.

Unfortunately, I don't see enough creative thinking and communication taking place with WGT personnel to believe they would see the value of such an approach or attempt it even if they did.

MrWGT has either has surrounded himself with people not capable of thinking creatively or he will not empower them to act on it. That would mean too much micromanagement is going on.

Overall the brand names on our virtual clubs doesn't mean much to me. I just judge them by the dot attribute ratings. I suppose some new Brand names would interest members to buy new stuff. I also believe WGT has all the Brand names of the currently willing companies. They can always change at some point.

Funny, I was just thinking about this a few days ago and my thoughts are these club/ball makers PAY WGT to have their stuff marketed here...why wouldn't WGT just program their own balls and clubs if THEY had to pay them....

the companies not represented here refuse to pay the price....

Me too.  Sure, it might be nice to have the same virtual set as the real clubs you take to the course but if WGT introduced a set called the Clubs-R-Us Super Duper Birdie Maker I'd buy them over the R11 if they had better attributes.

Hey srellim234, thanks for your reply.

I wasn't thinking about that previous thread but it's a good point, particularly your last comment made a lot of sense.

As for WGT creativity, it can be a bit frustrating not knowing what ideas are taken on board and what's added to the waste pile or even looked at/considered but then we are the customers and we have to just hope for the best and trust WGT will keep taking on the feedback and trying to improve the game.

I'm glad that they have good forums giving us the chance to put forward some good suggestions.

That's a good point. I suppose that's true we all look at the dots. I do think variety whether it's clubs or courses just adds to the game by making it more interesting for players but there is obviously implications and restrictions over what WGT can use.

Does anyone have a good idea of what those restrictions/implications are? I haven't found the answer in another thread....yet.

I just like those brands (particularly Cobra) but then there's a big gap  for so much more variety in many areas of the game but WGT seem to always drag their feet to bring us anything new.

The restrictions are contracts and money IMHO.

On the contract side, they need allowance to use any course and any piece of equipment. It looks like British clubs don't give them too many contracts (Royal Lytham 2012, Muirfield 2013) while the US Open courses do in yearly rota.

Apparently there are a few contracts with equipment companies, and with some (i.e. Adams and Cobra) there ain't any. Therefore we'll not see any of these until the contractual side may become settled.

Mentioning money means to give and to take. Perhaps WGT doesn't give enough to get more courses (count in the costs of course mapping), and probably some equipment companies don't pay them to promote their gear.

    It's business you know...
