prepared to cope for this shot,,
That's unlucky m8,but if you wanna see the funny side of the shot select camera2 and use the pause button just as the ball goes in,wait for a second or so then unpause....Voila,it looks like some tiny critter was in the hole and thru your ball back :)

Yes that can and does happen on any course championship or not.  I watched it 3 times with zoom and the ball appears not to have gone in but landed right on the edge of the cup. You can get some very bad bounces off the edge of the cup both here and in real golf. I had one here last year that hit the edge of the cup on # 18 @ St. Andrews and bounced completely off the green against the fence behind the green. Last year in a scramble one of my partners hit a great shot on a par 3 that came down right on the edge of the cup. It bounced something like 10 or 15 yards off the green into a green side bunker.

As far as being prepared to cope with shots like that, there is just about nothing that can be done. Because the cup has to be made of a metal or a rather hard plastic to be durable enough to last a complete season. They have probably tried cups made of softer material but always go back to the old style.

A difference is in the sound:

Acoustically, this shot hits the flag, then hits the cup's bottom before it reappears - blobb on the green.

Very unfortunate, and WGT's granite flagstick may have had it's share.

Have to agree with this, never having had a HN1 in RL, I was playing a resort course last year, 200 yard par 3, hole 9, quite the gallery with the hotel rooms and the balcony's over looking the green and almost surrounding the green, balcony's were full of my co-workers as well, anyway I hit the pin with such force it could be heard 4 holes over and it bounced straight back 60 or so yards.
