I understand the general sentiment about having more 18 hole courses. I get it because I prefer playing 18 holes. When I play golf in the real world, I will not go out to play if it's only going to be 9 holes. It isn't worth getting my stuff ready and driving to the course for 9 holes, IMO.

There may be more ppl here who DO prefer an 18 hole match than WGT realizes. I also understand the players who prefer 9 holes here, but only if they have certain time restraints that only allow for them to play 9 holes. I don't buy any other reason for playing 9, unless you don't play golf outside of the monitor and without a mouse.

More people playing 18 hole challenge games, like skins, match play, etc. would only translate into the games being more equal among tiers. Reason being, 18 is twice as much time for a player to make up for bad play, win holes, find their swing, and the list goes on. That said, I also believe this is why most higher tiered players only play 9. For them, most of the time, it's quick credits and less time for the stuff I just mentioned. Sand-bagger's would also prefer 9 holes because it's less time for them to be found out or figured out.

I'm not complaining that there aren't enough courses here with 18, but I think there could be many reasons WGT doesn't feel the need to do all that extra work quicker. If the signs point to 9 holes as the preferred format, why would they? Me, I have played a handful of 9 hole tournament's here, and usually on accident. If I had my way, there would only be 1 or 2 9 hole tournament's in each new set of them, because 9 holes does not a tournament make. Why do you think the PGA & LPGA play 54 or 72 hole tournament's?

    (my bold)

To me, the absolute #1 reason for playing 9 holes (stroke play) is that in WGT land that counts as 1 round and an 18 hole (stroke play) round does NOT count as two. Therefore if I play 2 x 9 hole rounds I've accumulated 2 ranked rounds, if I play 1 x 18 hole round I've only accumulated 1 ranked round.

I got bit by that early on in my WGT career as I preferred 18 hole rounds but with my time constraints that meant I was really struggling to accumulate the required ranked rounds to proceed to the next tier.

The solution (if you see it as a problem which I don't) would be to either give 2 ranked rounds for an 18 hole round or 1/2 a ranked round for a 9 hole round, but then you'd need to adjust the ranked rounds required for saturation. I really don't think it's a problem, certainly not enough of a problem for all that faff!

Agreed, and I was not aware of that until just now. I just never gave it any thought, but you are, obviously, right. It's sort of like the 'Hit the ball Experience' points. So, I shoot a good round but I get less experience points for performing better than if I had performed much, much worse. 63 points for shooting a 63 and 93 points for shooting a 93. How does this make sense?

You can't reward a game player with experience points when their experience shows them as not improving , or even getting worse. Any game I've ever seen that gave experience points, you normally get them by doing things better, faster, and with more skill. Anyway, no biggie there either, as it's a handful of points each time regardless.

It's a plain "1 shot, 1 XP" rule, not a reward for good or bad play. You even get an XP for a gimme!

And, one pays for 63 ball hits, the other for 93.

Furtheron, a good player may play three games while the lesser good one plays two.

    That's 3x 463 = 1389 XPs against 2x493 = 986 XPs - now that's a reward, isn't it?

Which is why many members don't even use the Search feature anymore and also probably why they have turned to playing more CTTHs, including myself

Did God tell you that: "You know how most of us" feel?  LOL

However, if you disagree with an opinion or suggestion of mine, that's fine but just reply on behalf of your self without pretending to even think You have a clue what most people think which is sound advice perhaps?. ;)  Have a blessed day.

Maybe you should follow your own advice?

P.S. Please keep your childlike tales of sky faeries out of this forum, it's the rules.

Now see, you can't go giving replies that make sense like that...makes me look bad. And the math added in just means another migraine for me. But, since the only letters mixed in with the numbers were XP & s, I can probably stave off the headache this time.

Speaking of XP's again, I think it's worth repeating something I've seen mentioned, at least once, here that is a bit messed up. The days in a row played, really should continue past the 880 points point. hehe Seriously though, I'm on 2 weeks straight of days played and it sure would be helpful if say that number went to 1500 before stalling and repeating until you dare miss a day.

I know I'd be level 85 easy by now, instead of feeling like I'll never see that 4 go to a 5.
