Nothing in this game is spot on. That's the challenge of it. Different courses have slightly different speeds even though the speed number may be the same. More importantly certain greens have their own character as well. Take the first at Pebble, even on speed 13 greens an uphill putt here has to be belted quite hard. And if you have a downhill putt on the same hole it's like putting down the bonnet of a V.W and trying to stop it half way down.

Some putts break a little more than they look and some putts less than they should . The more you play the courses the more information you can gather. Even though this is a computer game entrenched in numbers a bit of imagination and feel certainly does help.

I'm just glad I don't use a "system." Just feel and experience.

Is my scoring as good as it would be if I used metrics? Of course not, but the experience is much closer to real golf, which is my objective.

I'm thinking there are two main categories of players here: Golfers and video gamers. I came to the game because I'm a golfer.

I have been using a putting system that goes really well but,

Sorry, but your 1 putt % is 6% better than your 3 putts or more %, soooooo, couldn't help but smile.

You think there's a problem, cause you don't have much idea (at least that's what it looks like), why your putts sink when they do, therefore you can't comprehend, why they miss when they do. Nothing personal against you, sir. Hopefully we're all here to enjoy the game and one doesn't need to be great at it to enjoy it. But when you start to write what you do, it's like a severely visually impared person was authenticating a Picasso ;-)

What was the point of this reply to a 2 year old thread?  LOL

The op had this issue in March of 2014.

I have a system which works very well and is never far out no matter the course or green speed:   Green speed Fast - subtract 5%

                               very  fast -  subtract 10%

                              Tourney    -     "          20%

                            Tourney 12+     "          25%

then  add or subtract  2/3  of elevation  eg; 6 inches up hill =  4 inches

6 inches down    less 4 inches.

    So, if I have a 20 foot putt with 6 inches of up hill slope on very fast greens;

       20 ft  less 2 ft (10%)  = 18 ft putt plus 4 (2/3 of 6 inches) =  a putt of 22 feet strength.

This gives me a quick & easy GUIDE/ESTIMATE  of how hard to hit the putt.

(on SLOW greens I add 10%)

Lol, never noticed. But his sorry putting stats are from today and one can hardly believe they would be that bad 2 years later ;-)

    Jacko.

The up hill putt on 1st pebble is because if you look past the hole a foot or 2 you will see the elevation has went up another inch. always look at elevation from ball to past pin at least 1 or 2 feet.

Same here. Though my scores are not the best, I prefer to "feel it" more than taking a minute for the putt. It's the system I have been using since I started playing in 2009. I have to agree with some of you. I can also see that green speeds vary depending on the course we are playing. Pebble Beachs first hole is a great example. Even though you have Champ 14 speed, you really have to hit it. It depends, in my opinion, on the course. Cheers
