I have been playing now for quite a while on here and like other members have said, the game is all about putting.  I have been using a putting system that goes really well but, after a few days of this good scoreing, it seems that wgt tends to change the speed of the greens, because you cannot use the same system, clubs, balls and greens and suddenly it goes absolutely crazy.  I think what would be a good idea would be to have a Practice Putting Course so that daily you can go on your laptop/computer etc etc and practice and then you will know what the putting system is for that day because it can change daily???

I'm not sure how that applies to Community Introductions. It seems the Product Suggestions forum would have been more appropriate but there are over a hundred "I suggest a practice putting green' or "I suggest a driving range" threads in the Product Suggestions forum.

    Most recent example.

Just play 3 or so holes of a practice or ranked round.

In practice mode you can use the mulligan feature.

I play here pretty much every day and know that the first couple of holes will clue me in as to what's up with the greens that day on that course.

To the post just before me. You say this thread doesn't fit in this section. I look at just the first 5 threads, and they don't fit either. They are nothing to do with introductions at all. So why say something, that won't mean anything until someone actually follows someone else? Need some people to be an example first, before others follow.

Actually almost all threads are nothing to do with people introducing themselves to this site at all. Have no clue why they even called it community introductions.

Rody - Yes, I believe that the greens do change, slightly, at irregular intervals (but I have not seen them change in the middle a day).  Apex is right about a 'warm-up round' on one of the 3 hole practice games.  It will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect.

I agree, Wheels, on both points

The nominal green speeds change over time in WGT-land, mostly gradually over a period of days or weeks, but occasionally abruptly. I think of it as playing right after the greens have been mowed tight for a tourney.

My first shots of the day are usually via a random CTTH to 'get in synch' with the day's meter speed, followed by a 3-hole round to get a feel for the day's green speed.

For putting I'm a formula man; I calculate required distance for putt, then add a 'safety factor' (SF) to ensure the putt at least makes it a bit past the cup. Generally my SF is + 1.5 ft, but I adjust to fit the day's tendency. As of yesterday I've increased the the SF to 2 ft or more because of current 'slower than normal' speeds.

I am a 3 rounds a week real life golfer at my CC and find the same sort of day to day and week to week variations; WGT just trying to mimic real life, my friends.

I see these slight  changes from time to time and see that they coincide with my not realized lack of focus and concentration. Then watch them suddenly disappear as my concentration and focus are back to extreme.  ~ SP ~

Problem with a practice putting green (and driving range even more so) is that it would reduce the game even more to just a math exercise. Unlike the real game, all shots could then be calculated, which should not be in the spirit of the game. Yes, I know you can do all the mapping now, but a practice green/range would make it much quicker and easier.

I think there should be a shot time limit of like 10 secs or something. That would filter out the analytical wussies. Ha!

Green speeds have not changed any. different courses play different then others, Example St andews greens run faster then congo. putts up and down might not say 1 up or down 1 due to being just under 1. look past holes a foot or two for changes in elevation.

I totally agree jjjj.  I figure my retirement age eyes and reflexes are my handicap so I use a little math, but the more I try to calculate, the slower I play and just like in the real game, its an educated calculation/guess.  I'm not sure I could go along with a 10 second shot clock but I take your point.
