    TurkishTerror:

buying a desktop computer JUST TO PLAY WGT

does that mean i have a problem??    I dont want a desktop, but the only reason I would buy one is to play WGT.

Important Q: Why do you want to get the new one?

IMHO the need depends on the laptop. You don't want an outdated Win XP machine with small memory installed - the 1 GB netbook which I have is a PITA.

OTOH, with Win 7 and some more RAM than the minimum requirements, there should be no reason to leave it. Then, the potential problems are in the peripherals. Get yourself a basic wired(!) mouse, perfect for dinging, perhaps an old monitor for better views - done!

One additional item may be your LAN. Traffic there, e.g. from other computers, may disturb the game AFAIK, but this happens with any game PC.

Hey Adam, I play on both; pc & laptop (not only 'cos of WGT...lol), to me all depends on the screen size. I rather play on the 27" pc screen than in the 19 or 22" laptop screen. Meter behaves the same & mouse speed too.

I can also connect the laptop to the 27" pc screen & play.

    Good luck buddy, Eric

I play on a desk top win 7 and a 27 in monitor (going to change to a 45in when I replace the TV in den) - i use it for WGT ONLY - no e-mail, no web browsing, no nuttin' but WGT the game. I clean flash and cache at start of day and end of day and sometimes after 4 or 5 games. I have NEVER had a stutter meter .

To my right I have another desktop XP with a 27in monitor - i use to read forums, go to pro shop, send receive email, surf the net, listen to music. etc.

To my left I have a 19inch lap top Win 7 that I use for Skype - most of my friends play with Skype.

My wife calls it my War Room
