There has been forum talk long time about the missing reverse camera at hole 18. Don't remember talk about hole 14 - seems we just didn't notice it.

Today, I've been going through the STA CTTH course.

There is a reverse green camera at CTTH #4 (hole 14) covering the whole green. Why not use it in strokeplay?

There's a reverse green camera at CTTH #9 (hole 18) which only partially covers the green because the pin is set in back center. The view should be good enough for the stroke play pin though, and why hasn't this pin been used as an alternate in strokeplay?

They are looking into it to see if something has changed or if they have never been there

November, 2011. The reverse view camera on SA18 disappeared after an update in October, or thereabouts.

I care more about the Merion ones. The short par 3 especially.

Only two missing I could find on Merion stroke play was 12 and 13.  They have been noted to be investigated.

GL with that, I don't recall ever seeing usable reverse views at either hole. By the looks of it, there was no way to get them unless the photographer climbed a tree. 12 is tough to aim because of this but 13 is a straight ahead par 3 and rather simple to aim. Switching to the putting view gives you a reverse view option but with a narrow view. Better than nothing.

SA18,OTOH, is a major pain to aim at from the front views. Too much skewing going on where that reverse camera used to make it much easier.

That's what I am hearing.  They were never there, but they are looking into it to double check.

That they believe at one point there was a shot.  I am personally not sure since if it did disappear it happened way before my time.  They have to do a little more in depth research on it.

It's there, easy to find. Not only have I seen it and used it in stroke play, you can still see it in action on the CTTH at SA. Before your time SA had the Open and those that pounded away at it know.  :-)
