    MichaelStroke:

    If flat, 3 feet.

    If not flat, 2.5 feet.

If against a CC member, 4 feet.

If against someone that doesn't concede your 1.7 foot putt, never.

There are some holes like St. Andrews #2 front pin that I will not concede any length putt. They are just too easy to miss.

I'll go out on a limb here, but I would advise no concedes on the extra holes of an A/S match. They could possibly be what is leading to disconnections.

Personally, I find the whole concede thing is somewhat overrated and there is no way to determine a set number when to concede or not. There are times when a concede is an obvious advantage to speed up game play, but expecting every putt under 3 ft. to be a concede is ridiculous. Nobody "gives" even a 2 footer in real golf !

We all know the holes where a 2 footer can be a helluva challenge at times, so how can anyone expect a 3ft concede across the board  ? I prefer to just let each player do what they want and have no issues when I have to putt a 1.5ft. (unless I miss it of course)  ;). I have seen players get downright nasty because they weren't given a 2 footer......Really???. If you can't make a 2 footer perhaps knitting or gardening would be a better hobby.   LOL.

As you can see J, there really isn't one good answer. Everyone has their own idea. So really, it is up to you. You need to do what you feel is right, based on the situation, how you feel, how competitive you are, etc

In most cases, these are putts under 4 or 5 feet. If you have a partner getting mad at you over a 3.5 footer that you conceded in an Alt Shot match then you need to find a new partner. Alt Shot is typically done for the social aspect of the game and more about having fun and meeting new people than it is about who wins or loses. If pard or opponent gets mad, just tell them to chillax and enjoy the game, it's a 3 footer ffs

My take is :  playing to win - NEVER!

playing for fun with strangers  - Under 2 feet.

playing with friends - 3 feet or even more if she's pretty.

playing with competitive friends - anything to screw them up and get an advantage!!!

my nickel with tongue in cheek.

I also use that criteria!  Makes perfect sense, UNLESS it is one of those side hill down hill screwbalsl that u can miss from 1 ft

    StingerWelsh:
What if my CC owner really stinks at putting?

Dissing your Club Owner on a public forum?  Might be looking for a new home soon.
