lonniescott711:1200 bucks is not
I know the Aussie dollar was very very strong a while back (still reasonable) so that in mind a bit but can't believe you need to spend near that for the spec I think we are talking about. Mine was about $800 (tops) - Acer Aspire V3-571G-73614G50Makk. Basically a multi media one that is also OK for "casual gamers", and as say has done all I need standing on it's head for nearly two years. Street cred it has none lol, but then I am happy with a Galaxy Ace 2 phone and that probably has minus street cred:).
Kids have iphones, but my phone does what I need it to OK (I really do not care about phones at all). I am not recommending the phone to anyone but just demonstrating tech wise you buy what you need, not what you think you might within reason IMO. My phone has Email, plays music, accesses internet radio (I am English and like my old stations walking the dogs even though live in Australia), and lets me text / talk to family in England for free when out etc via internet. After all that I do not care so no point me replacing.
Go PC Tower wise things are v cheap these days away from, as ever, real gaming stuff. I have a 6 year tower that was near bottom end at the time from Lenovo. It has some fairly basic Athon processor, and only 1 gig of RAM (RAM was expensive at the time), but it was only bought to surf the web and do things like play music and run word, and 6 years later it is doing all that easy enough still. Incidentally it plays this game OK anyway few times I ever used it for this.
If I were in the market today this Acer would be my start point of looking. Not sure how it works there, but here I would expect 7 - 10% of the listed price on "a deal" or an honest copy of Student / Teacher edition word power point excel thrown in....All at least as well as discounts on any other honest sofware I bought at the same time. A$800 gets me loads+ for what I need. I guess I also look at laptops even more because we are allowed to write off a good chunk of one per financial year tax wise here too after all that - again no idea how that works there.
