I also have these problems, I did a thread about it but its being moderated. But Im not at your level and have long putts to make nearly always. I have played many golf games similar to this, and never had probs with putting. But this seems confusing to me, Red indicates uphill and blue downhill right? but say im 15ft away, full putter swing being 30ft, and its downhill, if i hit half power, sometimes it may go way past cos its downhill, other times it will virtually ground to a halt about halfway to the holde, so it leaves me totally guessing now. vice versa I may have an uphill putt and hit slightly more than half power, or even just half power cos im now confused, yet it will go way past as if its going down a ski slope. I get so many contradictions it's annoying because I enjoy this game but that spoils it for me, constantly 3 putting and sometimes even 4 putting

You got it backwards. Red is downhill and blue uphill.  There is a lot of putting tips on golf tips website

You get a chance give it a look.

First, change your thinking, as Gary said.

Second, take care of the green speed. It changes often with tier changes. In multiplayer games, the speed follows the highest tier - potentially quicker than your "fast" speed.

You may also want to use a bigger scale just because lower amplitude means slower meter.

    Have fun!
