I'm a legend with a 60.28 stroke average (Realistically AVERAGE 64-65).  The only reason it's as low as it is, is because with my wedges I'm almost always inside 5 feet.  I simply cannot make putts in the 10 foot range unless they are straight or almost straight.  I'm 70 years old and I practice and play at LEAST 6 hours every day because I have nothing else to do and I love this game.

Please, please, please Tour Legends, give me some suggestions on how you decide how much break to play on your 10 to 15 footers.

I beg of you NOT to tell me it comes with practice because I've probably practiced close to 10,000 hours in the last 2 or 3 years.  I think my mind is just a little to slow to develop a method to reading putts.

    Thx in advance my friends.

There was a thread of G0ld's putting calculations in the forums (mind the number in between), the most thorough thoughts concerning the breaks I ever read.

Following and understanding it will certainly keep you busy for days!

Disclaimer: Intensive counting and some calculations involved.

    Other than that:

I don't have a system. I just look at it and think. I'll aim about THERE.

    Hi Gerry ,

I don't have a method or calculation, my putts are all from memory as i tend to be in a similar spot every time.

I'm by no means the greatest , but what i would suggest is..Learn from your mistakes. Are you missing the same putt over and over again...then be brave and make the adjustment even if it looks wrong. I have done this lately and find myself making the putts i always miss.(sometimes)

    Hope this might help

I may well be worse than you Gerry with my 'Hit n miss' putting style, so I won't offer you any advice.

If I may interject here, quite simply, what you are experiencing is nothing more than the fact that the little white dots lie. Seriously,  they are all little white liars, do not believe them for an instant ! Since I have been introduced to the putting green, the best you can hope for is getting somewhere in the general vicinity of the cup, and the rest is all up to WGT. Though there may be those who disgree with this, I have found this to be true to my experience. Good luck.

This is hands down the best putting guide thats been done on wgt. Give it a read through a couple times and then take it to the course. Also, find a way to make sure yours speeds are consistant, otherwise no matter the angle to the hole you take. Results will never be the same.

    Good luck.

This may help a tad.  How to fine tune putting.  This allows me to see the actual break line on the green.

Are you a pour it in the front of the hole putter or a knock it off the back of the cup putter? I was a pour it in until I reached the faster green speeds. I've found playing with a lot more confidence and hitting 10-15 footers harder has helped me sink a couple more. Our CC always has some Champ Speed Green Tourneys running and I try to play in all of them just for the putting practice of hitting it harder and with more confidence from the 10 foot range. Playing purely from the calculator had me missing putts on the low side until I started just using more power. GL :)
