I have been playing this game for the last 3 days in all game mods possible for new players.
I am an avid online player with lots of experience in other multiplayer games thefore, I can not avoid to compare this game to other online SIM games and consecuently comparing this game to the best golf game SIM game: The Links.
I suppose the creators of this game knows exactly the difference between World Golf Tour & The Links..... the best sim golf game ever made. A real pitty The Links has stopped making modern releases and the only game available is the 1999 edition for 32 bit systems.
World Golf Tour is bassed in pictures & not 3D as any other pc game so it relays on real picturesthat have been taken around the several courses and then place the players within it's picture frame for everyshot. Cool & realistic pictures as background where to ball lands & rolles after any shot, but is this the "realistism" of the game?, well, basically yes it is.
In comparison the old Links has much better player options, ball position on the ground, shot setups, ball fly, back spin, wind, animated flags, animated crowds, etc, besides, huge amount of courses!!
In short the main problems I see here: Multiplayer: Very long "pause" between player turns (big minus), missing features fo the host to fully control de session either when inviting people to join & chat options. Courses; only a few. I must admit in WGT, the putting info & the greens grid are fantastic!!
After this 3 days I am already ....bored. Even if I was going to have the most expensive equipment in my bag it would not change the basics of the game.
Are new WGT releases going to be so good to make me change my mind about using money in this game?...perhaps, although atm, I would rather buy a 60,00 - 80,00 euro Links game ...a 2011 version.
