we do NOT need better equipment.

    This reminds me of a conversation I once had with my Father regarding the unique, creative genius of the great Seve B... He explained that growing up, Seve learned with one club, a 3-iron...T-ball, rough, sand, putting, everything. He said it took Seve from impossible-tryable-possible-probable....a crummy 3-iron.... ;-}

They never really intended to sell any in the pro shop.. The putter is the carrot they dangle in front of everyone in the CC Clash event to make them buy CC passes to try to win a free one. That's where they intend to rake..

    +1000!

Problem is, they spoiled it, making it available to some players.

This putter is Step One of The Big Hype Show.

    1 - announce an out-of-the-world item - a putter - "confidential" (what a Hype - see the News)

2 - show it, shining golden, worth a fortune, and tell the world that it's not for sale.

3 - create a competition (or a show?) to give away ONE (in chiffres:1) putter to the whole community.

    4. Collect substantial revenue from the CC passes purchased through the event,

4 - Give away the prize - dubious reputation of the receiver will avoid clarification and keep the hype alive.

5 - Declare the results correct despite of all doubts.

6 - Start the next Clash for new heights of revenue.

Two problems creep through my mind:

A - this club IS for sale. Big fail of the company since they missed the easy option to lock this occurence out. The credit block is only second best.

    B - the show wasn't correct.

Concerning both points, they just messed it up. Did the one-time revenue cover up for big  lost reputation to the avid part of the community?

I've got no problem with players (who can afford it) buying this putter from the pro shop. I don't think it gives that much of an advantage as you've still got to aim the putt on the right line for it to go in. That ability can't be bought.

However, when the driver and irons are released then i do have a problem. A driver that goes further and irons that spin better than the top clubs we have now and there's no way that anyone without this gold set will be able to win a thing. That will, in my opinion, be the end of wgt.

We don't need all these "super unobtainable to the normal player clubs" and a much better prize for the CC clashes would be a big stack of credits to go in the clubs bank (when they finally get it up and running).

Makes sense to me.  It would then be possible to share the prize between the players that won it, either directly or funding competitions, rather than selecting one player to get it all.
