    I checked the forums and there's so many maths putting tips, I don't know which is best.

    I was recently given a more simplified method (than the one below) in an alt game, but didn't get to write it down in time.

    I'm looking for the latest tried and tested good maths method for calculating putting.    If you have different stimp numbers for each green speed would be great also.

    Does anyone have an simple mental maths sum that can be done when needed for putting?

    Below is what I use atm.

    The rough mental math is, divide distance by 10 then multiply by speed, add or minus 1 ft for each inch of elevation, then add 1 or 2 more feet.

     Tweak for breaks and wind.

    Thanks anyone?

    Distance div by 10,  X  speed   - add or minus 1ft for each inch then add  1 or 2 ft.

                                                                          speed          stimp

                                 Slow/standard =               1.1

                                                   Fast =               .85

                                          Very Fast =                .80              10

                                    Tournament =                .75               12

                                    Champion =                   .71               13

    It would be nice if it was that straight forward.

    You also have to adjust your factor for uphill, down hill, and for long putts.

    On flat Tournament putts I divide by 1.3. Uphill I use a smaller number, like 1.25 or 1.2. Down hill I use between 1.3 and 1.8 depending on putt length relative to fall.

    (dist + elevation + 2) * factor

    championship 13

    factor for uphill= 0.71

    factor for level = 0.63

    factor for downhill = 0.60

    10ft uphill 2 inches is  (10+2+2) x 0.71= 9.9ft

    10ft level is (10+0+2) x 0.63 = 7.6ft

    10ft downhill 2 inches is  (10-2+2) x 0.60 = 6.0 ft

    not the best though but it works for me :)

    As a legend for a lng time, i use that as my basis for all calcs.

    So tournament legend speed ( stimp  12 ) -   take 25% off  level putt 20ft hit 15

                                            same putt slow (stimp 7.9)  add 2.5 feet hit 22.5

                                            same putt standard ( stimp 8.4) add 1 foot  hit 21

                                            same putt fast ( stimp 9 ) take off 10% hit 18

                                            same putt very fast ( stimp 10) take off 15% hit 17

                                            same putt championship ( stimp 13 ) take of 27.5% hit 13

    All of this needs to be tweaked for different courses.
