    Hello

I haven't played in many years and would like to start again. My level is a Master 84 but I'm not close to that any more.

Is there a way to lower my ranking? I've forgotten many things to be that good.

I would like to join a CC but feel foolish with having a level that high.

Also I only type with one finger and it's rough to "talk" in the chat box while playing.

Is there an app that translates speech to written form I could use?

    Thanks

Hi TopFlite7. Jumping forward to the chat problem, if you are playing on a Windows computer, when your cursor is in the chat box, or any text box for that matter, try hitting the windows key + H, you might see a small dialogue box open up with a microphone icon in it, this means that Windows is ready to transcribe what you say into text, provided you have a microphone up and running.

As far as I know there is no way to lower your ranking, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure many people come back to this game a bit rusty after a lay off, and you can always explain the situation to people if they question your abilities. If you play regularly you'll soon get back to where you were.

You're welcome in Insidious.  We're a club that's more about enjoying the game than about hardnosed competition.  We do Clashes and Turf Wars but no one is forced to play in them.  No one will be bothered by your Level or your skill level.

I have Windows 10 and I'll try your suggestion.

Also I have a cheap headset with a microphone. If I plug the set in would the microphone work or would I have to do something else?

    Thanks for your help.

    You're welcome bud.

Hopefully your headset should work without you needing to do anything, although Windows may prompt you to set up the microphone levels if you have not used it before. You can test it out in Word or Notepad, something like that.

If you find that the transcription is not working well or inaccurate, make sure that the microphone is not directly in front of your mouth where it may pick up explosive breath sounds. Move it down or to the side if you can, so that you are not breathing into it. Good luck!

You can't move back without deleting your current account and starting over with a different user name, and even that's kind of frowned on.

Don't worry about what others think about your ability for your Tier/Level.  If you join a decent club you'll be able to explain your situation.

And look for a club that uses Discord as a method of communication.  That way you can chat away without any need for typing or transcribing into in-game chat.  You just get set up with headphone/microphone and go into your club's server, jump into a Voice/Video room, and then you can chat real-time with whoever else is in there, just like you're sitting right across the table from them.  You can also share your WGT screen, or watch someone else's if they are streaming, which is nice if someone better than you wants to give some live playing lessons.  Feel free to take a look around Grand Traditions CC.  We use almost exclusively Discord for communication, play Turf War and Clash (but no one is pushed or required to play anything they don't want).  We have several season long events similar to FedEx Cup, play club vs club matches against other clubs, and always have a variety of free to enter tournaments ongoing.  You can send me either a Discord or WGT Friend Request if interested and we can get you all squared away.

And you don't need special equipment or expensive headphones/microphone.  I use a set of Airpods to chat through my Windows 11 computer, but as long as your computer has Bluetooth built in any old cheapo earbuds from Amazon or wherever will work just fine.  I have a pair of earbuds I got off of Amazon for about $14 that work every bit as well as the Airpods,  the battery life just isn't quite as good.
