The culprit is via adobe flash which installs the tracking cookies.  Most sites that use adobe flash do install cookies.  Also contained in these cookies are your game preferences.  You can get a nifty utility called flashcookiewview at www.nirsoft.net this will allow you to view all the adobe flash cookies installed on your system and also allows you to delete them.

At times tracking cookies provide information to other sites you visit where you have been.  Eliminating these cookies just ensures you surf the web anonymously.
