Can some of you more experienced players please help me understand how far an inch is when putting either uphill or downhill. Is there a formula. Does an inch = a foot for example knowing this would greatly help improve my score, I am sort of stuck in the low 70's occasionally I break 70 but would sure like to do it consistently.

1 inch equals 1 foot. In the forum there is a lot of posts about putting tips and if you look deep you should find one about how much harder/softer you should hit the ball in different green speeds. Have fun playing!

I'll make it easy for ya, pman-everything you ever wanted to know about putting is right in the FAQs under Putting Tips. Chip and Pitching is right underneath it and both were written by former players (since moved on to WGT.)  GL

i use the 1 inch = i foot also. but remember that a 1 foot putt with 1 inch downhill would then = 0 feet. so it totally depends on the distance of the putt. Under 5 feet, i cut down on the formula. Hard to have an exact formula, and playing diffrent green speeds.
