I don't have a problem with winner takes all, Top 3, Top 10, whatever - if that's how the organiser wants to set up the tournament fine. The player enters with their credits at his/her risk.

Yes, the better players do tend to enter during the latter stages. A few reasons I can think of:

    • Most of the better players are more active so they work though the tournies in order.
    • They are waiting to see the number of entrants and if it's worth bothering with.
    • They might not want to scare off other players with a low score.
    • They wait for the scores to come in so they can play tactically to a score (this brings in another argument - you could argue it's not fair, but equally that it's just like a real final round with the scores on the leaderboard).

I just think if the scores are hidden until after you have posted a score people will enter purely based on what think/hope to achieve and not being put off by other scores. More people will enter earlier, the prize pool will be bigger earlier thus enticing more people to play?

I should also say that it won't make much difference to me - I'm an active player in my CC Tournies and I do OK - I was just throwing up an idea of a way to get more players involved...

This can't be hard to add as an option can it WGT?

Entrants in comps are down in our CC and speaking to a few people the general consensus is that a lot of people don't bother entering when they see a good score posted. I'd agree, what's the point wasting credits chasing a score you know you won't get near to?

It does put off the more average players (like myself)

BUT if the course was one you enjoy playing and you had no idea what the leading score was chances are you'd have a go, if only for the challenge of beating your own PB.

It's down to the individual, but personally I'd enter more comps if it was a blind entry.
