Hi all, I saw this mentioned mid-thread elsewhere, but there were no further replies, so I thought I'd raise the subject again.

At the Country Club I play in (The Yellow Brick Road CC), we have noticed recently that entrant numbers are down in buy-in competitions when somebody posts an excellent score early on (say 59). I'm sure we are not the only CC to have noticed this!

Could we not have a similar set-up to the Ready Goes, where scores are only visible after you have posted your score? This way people would enter based purely on the conditions and the buy-in cost. A 59 for example wouldn't be there to scare people away.

I'm sure if this was employed more people would be playing in the CC Tournaments, and of course this in turn would see an increased revenue to WGT.

I'd appreciate knowing what others think. Cheers

I think we have two sides to the coin.Personally I like to look and see what I have to beat,so a 59 would energise rather than discourage me.

It would also make me think that one day,I would like to be that 59,so to not play based on someone elses score lends itself too readily to ultimate failure.

    Heres hoping!

Hi Lizzie, thanks for you reply. I think that's a great attitude to take to the game, but not sure it's shared by the majority of players, who after seeing a 59 will simply not enter as they don't want to lose credits...

It depends on the payout .If it is 100% for first you probably won't get a lot of entrants to start with. Top 3 or top 10 will get you a lot more entrants. Our CC has one guy who sets up all his tourneys as premium 75-100 credits buy in then sets them up as winner take all. He never gets more than 4 or 5 entrants. If he would set them up @ top 3 or top 10 he would get many more entrants. I won't enter a winner take all. I want to think I at least have a chance to  win something.

borntobesting, I agree with you regarding the payouts - the more chance of winning something back, generally the more people will enter. Even in Top 3 tournies though, with the winner recieving 55% of the payout, this will stop a lot of players not entering if a good score has been recorded early on.

GREAT IDEA PENNERS............I BELONG TO A CLUB TOO, AND OUT OF 50 SOME MEMBERS, ONLY 3 OR 4 SEEM TO PLAY IN THESE THINGS.........DO NOT ALLOW THE MEMBERS TO SEE SCORES UNTIL THEY HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE TOURNEY.....

I SEE NO PROBLEM WITH THIS - IT IS A GREAT IDEA TO GET MORE TO PLAY....AND WHAT IS 25 CREDITS?????   CAN'T FIND CHEAPER ENTERTAINMENT ANYWHERE.....

I'M WITH YOU ON THIS ONE BORNE..................WINNER TAKE ALL - NO GOOD.......LET EVERYONE AT LEAST HAVE A CHANCE TO GET SOME CREDITS BACK.....NO WONDER ALOT OF THESE TOURNEYS DO NOT HAVE MORE THAN 2 OR 3 GUYS PLAYING.......

Unless it's winner takes all for a decent round and a massive Country Club like the YBRCC 2nd place would get you your credits back at least. In my Country Club I haven't really seen this problem as the best players tend to enter during the latter stages of the tournament. I disagree with hiding scores completely.
