    SPs mind is made up and fair enough - enjoy the new toy:)

    I would say just on that latest St As Old Tom challenge it probably is a place where the L100 / 103 dvrs are probably the weapon I would choose if I had them.

    #12 my R1 stops the ball near the pin fine with any decent hint of a HW.  I am sure you can do that with more flexibility with a higher loft driver though.  Certainly I think I need a some HW to do that, but running it up also seems to have worked pretty good when not.  I think the L100 Nike must win that 1 for choice, but actual score wise I doubt I would see a difference too often..hmmmm ?....well not enough doubt to make me buy a driver when I think we must be due something a bit funkier.

    #15 I probably need to think that one through a bit more depending on wind, but not seen any real issues.

    I do use the L81 ball though, and that sticks better than the L61 I would think in those situations. Overall though that course, that set and those conditions the L100 I would think would be the go to choice.

    Icons bounce over the water (byrne) challenge I was stuffed with the R1, but that was starter ball for fun. Come L103 will I be finally prized from my trusty old R1, LOL.  I like new toys but I don't bother swapping clubs per course etc either..probably try it in a free rental and then hand it back.

    Very cool to read Jimbo ! It shows me, in vivid visuals, what I seek...a nature to slow down and smell the flowers as I play ;-}

    Amen to that , Lily.  Seek excellence, not perfection.   While I strive to perform at my best, I try to remember that it's just a game.  I'll never be a player on the order of Fmags.  Or probably even you.  I simply try to learn from my mistakes and improve my game.  And enjoy the process.

    Jimbogs post compared to mine is the perfect example of it is the player as much as it is the club....I use the lvl 61 nike ball mostly but I also use the lvl 81(same as Jim) on some courses and was using the 81 at the Old Tom tourny.

    on #12 when I ran the R1 up on the green I depended on the bounce being favorable and it brought the bunker into play on a slight mishit...where as the Nike was easier to dial in and you have a 2ft - 18ft putt for eagle every time...

    on #15 with a tail wind I aim the nike at the right fairway bunker and it goes long but dies short of it, where with the R1 I was in it once and close a 2nd time...but I'm not used to it!

    Theeeeeen on icons challenge, I couldn't get the Nike driver over the water, so I switched to the R1 and I could, exactly the opposite of Jim and others...LOL

    In short, if you can make the adjustment needed with the R1 on #12 and #15, you might also have an eagle putt on #10 and you will be a little closer on every hole...I couldn't with a limited effort.

    Were you able to land the green and stick it there most time any wind including direct TW?

    The R1 I was usually OK working it with wind, but certainly ended up pitching or even punching a few times.  Arguably I am as likely to sink a 15 yard pitch (punch from say 20 not far behind if at all) as I am an 18 foot putt on that green, but dance floor has to be the goal I think.

    There my R1 got over OK, just saw no chance of stopping it near the hole.  Starter ball only fun comp as say though, and so fair enough there I think.

    #10 I never quite made the actual green with the R1.  The couple of eagles I got were from pitches and punches.

    #15 like I say i never saw as an issue, but so used to the R1 anyway.  Maybe I left a slightly longer approach for safety sometimes, but this game any short iron is just so good.

    Cheers
