    United,

Do you have the capability of hard-wiring this laptop temporarily? If so, it would be a great way to test your internet connection to make sure this issue is on your end, and not something that your provider needs to address.

If it works hard wired with no interruptions, then we can be fairly sure it is specific to your wireless. If you get the same disconnects while hard wired, then there is a good chance the issues is coming from your internet service, and a call to your provider would be in order.

I should also ask, now that Richard has suggested the software scenario, when exactly did this issue start for you, and do you remember making any changes to this laptop around the same time? Installed any new programs, hardware, change any wireless settings, etc - anything?

Thanks also for the gift, much appreciated.

    np Richard,

most cases of that I have seen are full blocks by a firewall, which are then given to the user as a prompt along the lines of 'new network detected, do you wish to allow this network internet access'

not unlike the meter issues, there could be a lot of things causing this, lol - just a matter of trying differnt stuff to narrow it down.

Sorry for a slow reply, have been busy and hence spent much time online recently, unfortunately I don't have an ethernet cable available atm to connect manually. Also I can't recall making any system changes/software downloads/installations etc.

    Thanks U4L
