    Hey guys,

just turned pro yesterday, and was under 80, and signed up for the 18 hole 200 chambers bay,

i did notice that green speeds were way more faster and the course ripped me a knew one and after that round i went straight to 111/114 average lol,

well this course i had been practising on and did ok but whats with the championship settings it just eat me and spit me out,

i have a few questions about wind and speed of greens and lays,

is there a formula for calculating the power to hit the ball acconting the wind and green speeds etc?,

also best ways to lower my average i assume are just enter easy courses for now? and run up some decent scores, what kind of scores decreases average?,

cheers guys and this my 1st post on here and would love to get pointed in right direction of a thread containing all this info if it is indeed here,

    Jim.

    Jim,

    welcome to the show!

Green speeds and/or track lengths rise from tier to tier.

Also, the average calculation resets with the new tier, thus the first result is the first average. (BTW: 9 holes scores are doubled, and Par3s and Par5s do not count in)

And boy you hit an impossible task! In any tierless RG you (and I) will only be a fish!

There are formulas, but they don't work well with Starter and low level clubs. Try to hit the greens in regulation, that should be enough.

You might want to learn a bit from all courses to raise your skills and your level. Play free tournaments regardless of your position. It's of no use to hurry through the tiers - as a Master you'll learn new distances which need better clubs from higher levels.

    Most of all: Have fun!

    Hi alosso,

    thanks for the reply,

ye i have gotten my average back to 80  :), so i just wana be careful not to have another nightmare like that RG, i assume thats ranking game?

yes i will try some of them free tournies for the experience,

my aim to to ultimately compete in the tournies :).

RGs which do not point to a specific tier are open to all tiers. That means, conditions are hard and common to all players - too hard for most players below Legend. Furthermore, the best players may compete.

It may be fun to challenge yourself in WGT's Major tournaments free of charge, e.g. the Virtual US Open or the monthly Virtual Tour events, but 200 cr RG entry seems exaggerated to me.

Dunno what you mean with "ranking games". Ranked strokeplay rounds (which include tournaments but exclude Par3, Par5s) count toward the average, practice does not.

    Hi Jim (from another Jim)

    This

used to work pretty well. Since then WGT has added more wind variability, so, not so much anymore. It's still a pretty good place to start your guessing, which is what the majority of us do these days.

    Good Luck.

    Jim:

The RG you refer to is called a "Ready Go".  To enter you have to spend credits for the chance to win some credits. The top 15 make their credits back. The other 35 lose their credits.

The thing for a new WGT player to understand however is that until you can score consistently 60 or under on the course - stay away from spending the credits there and use them instead to improve your clubs.

One thing I will say is that at least you hung in there until the bitter end.  Looking at the Leaderboard for that tournament a number of really good players withdrew (WD). Many of the top players will post a WD if the round starts out badly.  I know one in particular that withdraws if he does not birdie 5 of the first 6 holes. The reason is simply the cost of wear on the ball for playing the last 12 holes is more than what would be won.

As mentioned above stay away from them and play the free ones that will have conditions specific to your tier.

WGT Ready-Go tournaments are paid online golf tournaments limited to the 1st  **50**

players who enter, with the **BEST 30 SCORES (always) WINNING WGT CREDITS.**
