if you consider that a berating, you must exist in an area of the world i have never visited.  i may not be the classist person to comment on the forums, but i do call a kettle black if indeed it is.   my 2 cents again.

“Men who would face torture without a word become blasphemous at the short fourteenth. It is clear that the game of golf may well be included in that category of intolerable provocations which may legally excuse or mitigate behaviour not otherwise excusable."

can't agree with herbert, you have to be held responsible for your actions reguardless of the provocation.

however i can fully agree with jones.   thanks for the input.  my 2 cents worth ?

Actually Lee , I can't either. I read a story about Nicklaus throwing a club from a bunker in his younger years ; he said that his father picked him up by the collar and said "That will be the last club you throw OR the last hole you play."

Yes he was venting a bit like many of us are prone to do, but absolutely no need to berate the person.

I didn't want to get into this debate because quite frankly every one turns nasty.  But I totally agree, it's a bit of venting.  We all get frustrated when we hit what looks like a perfect shot and something unexplainable happens.  Happens in real golf all the time too.  Hell, happens in every sport; I've done most and been there.  It's what sport is about - understanding why something goes wrong and being able to put it right.

We need somewhere to vent our frustrations, maybe a special section in the forum where no answer is required necessarily, a 19th hole to shout and scream.  And maybe an encouraging word or two rather than someone constantly telling you to grow up or get over it!
