Have decided that i need to fine tune my game as far as approach shots are concerned. So i want to map my clubs ( L75 Taylormade Speedblades ) with that aspect of the game in mind. Now i am assuming that the most accurate results will come from hitting from fairway to green. So my question is where would be the best course and hole for me to do this? Also what would be a reasonable number of shots per club to hit so as to give me a good idea of what yardage each club is capable of?. I hit the L34 Callaways, however the number of balls i have to go through to accomplish this is irrelavent to me, i just want to hit enough shots to get accurate results. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Most set up a practice round on #1 at Kiawah with low wind.

I try full, full BS.....5 off then 5 off with full BS....should give a pretty good indication.

It also helps to hit the "ding".  I know where I want to hit it & move the aim arrow & pray for the best. :)

Thank you for your help. As it stands now, i am planning on 15 shots per club. Will take the average of my dinged shots as the true representation of what each club hits to. And because i know that approximately 70% of my mishits are somewhat early, i am considering taking the early mishits and somehow incorporating those results into each clubs performance. I can't help but think that accounting for my tendency to hit early  will help me get my approach shots really dialed in. Good idea or not?

I have the same clubs as you L75 bladez, I normally used 6 shots to get an idea of distance (3 up and 3 back down) and either ding or very close to ding. Neutral spin and fbs and then maybe 3/4 spin. To be honest I did this in more detail with a previous set of pings, then for this set I did a lot less as I could see a pattern set by the pings and you can refer to the ping yardage as reference if that makes sense.

Pick low wind, pay more attention to the length when the ball bounces, less important is roll after the landing, but make a note of that too. Kiawah one is good as well as the first few on the back 9 at BP.

I did mapping with L60 nike balls now I am using callaways and tend to just be aware how the ball plays different ie a bit longer and less bs and still refer a lot to the mapping I did with the nikes. eg if nike fbs 100% power goes 161 I know the cally will go around 162-3 yards carry.

Dont even get me started on winds, because if your estimate of wind impact on your yardage is off, it doesnt matter how well you have them mapped.

But, of course, having as accurate as possible base mapping is the best start.
