    AUGIE316:

Why does it really matter now anyways. The Americans won it,so that point is really mute at this point anyways. Go U.S.A.

This was the turning point.  The US  rallied and came back to win.  If the putt was conceded, does the US come back and win?

no blame should be put on Pettersen, she didnt need to apologize but im sure she issued the statement as she plays most of her golf in the US and lives there too.

    This!

It's two different things to decide "on spot" in the match (anything is set in stone when the players have left the green) or to think about it in the light of the competition's outcome.

The concede issue is really a hard thing at that level of competition, but it was pretty obvious that the official could easily and should have allowed the ball to be replaced.  In the end isn't this game supposed to be all about sportsmanship and not winning at all costs???

The really great thing is that in the end, a questionable decision/ruling and perhaps a momentary lapse in the spirit of the game on the part of Pettersen, was nullified by some extraordinary play by the wonderful ladies of the US Team. Well played by all, and in the end, it's all just a game?

The US Team did play great in the 12 single matches, to get 8.5 points from 12 is pretty amazing

That was a very nice apology - written no doubt by her camp at nike (with editorial from the LPGA).......(come on you don't think she really wrote that do you?)

It was a low rent, slimy, classless, premeditated (dare i say selfish) move on SP's part.  If they wanted to see it in, why in the hell are they walking off the green.  Period......

And if SP and Euros were so in the right.....why the apology....why?  Because it was a classless petty move and the sponsors, LPGA and others see fit for a bit of damage control.

Oh and yes....AL screwed the pooch by picking it up without concrete confirmation.  But the actions of the players/caddies et. al. most certainly suggested that it was conceded (like every other concede over the previous 16 holes).

End of the day Im glad it happened....had it not Im not sure the US would have eviscerated the Euros as they did.....I also think it put a lot of negative mojo on the entirety of the Euro team....everyone heard about it before going back out for the singles...had to have played a negative role in their minds....So --- Way to go Ms. Pettersen - Well done.
