There isn't a setting to turn it off as far as I'm aware, but if you install or are already using AdBlock, you can *remove it with a couple of clicks.
    *See below

I've done a bit more detective work on this now. If you use Maxthon, which has Adblock Plus built in, and you want to remove the ticker at the top of the forum, do the following....

    1. Click on the Adblock Plus icon on the status bar and select 'Custom Filters' from the menu.

    2. On the 'Add Your Own Filters' tab, type into the filter rules window,

    wgt.com###golfTicker

Make sure there are three hash/pound symbols, and the 'T' in 'Ticker' is uppercase, then click 'Done' and refresh your browser to apply the filter.

In other browsers, once you have installed AdBlock, if you click the icon and select 'Block Element' from the drop down menu, follow the instructions to block the golf ticker. Or try to find a custom filter list and add the previously mentioned filter (blue text above) to the list.

    ⇩ EDIT : Thanks guys. ⇩

Make sure there are three hash/pound symbols, and the 'T' in 'Ticker' is capitalized, then click 'Done' and refresh your browser to apply the filter.

That filter works in Maxthon 3 as well. Just add it to "Edit Blocking rules" from the ADHunter pop-up menu. Click Apply after your edit.

This thread is a great example, thanks to Scott and Luigi, of how helpful this forum can be. I've read posts from a few members that say the forum is full of haters or cynics. That's total BS. The vast majority of folks who post on here are asking questions, or offering sound advice, or having a few laughs, or advertising their CCs, or highlighting glitches with the game, etc..that's what this forum is supposed to be used for, n'est ce pas?

Thank you to both of you for the help.

try removing adobe flash and loading an older version. Had trouble with same programs and Mozilla after latest flash update. I am using Maxthon Cloud now and it seems to run a little smoother, you could try that. Good luck

Depending on his OS and browser version he might not be able to go back to an older version of flash. Until I went back to a. Version of Comodo Dragon that was over 2 years old I could not install an older version of flash because the newer version would not completely uninstall. It only uninstalled the plug in that works with Mozilla based browsers but not pepper flash. So uninstall uninstalled the Mozilla browsers flash but merely changed chrome and all newer chrome based browsers flash to pepper flash . And with pepper flash still installed Windows would not allow an older version of flash to be installed.

This was with Windows 10 as the OS.

Hi I have recently reloaded my machine~
If by 'reloaded' you mean reinstalled your operating system, then it is quite likely that your PC will either be downloading/installing updates, or scanning the applications on your machine, or indexing the files to enable you to search for stuff etc. All this goes on in the background on a new install and therefore will load up your processor. Don't be too hasty to look for a cure as you may not need one, give your PC time to get itself sorted out.  : )
