I was just wondering about the money I see people have posted. Is this real money and if so how is it earned. I have no chance as the way I play but was just curious.

No money is won here. WGT just post it like that to attract the gullible.
See their T&Cs: "Credits have no monetary value."
Still, credit winnings in tournament appear as "$" on the leaderboards, players' profile pages and the earnings leaderboard on the front page.
False promises to the unsuspecting visitor :(
