I was seeing what the thoughts are on limiting country club membership to 200 members or making it mandatory for WGT players to join a country club? It seems like recruiting members is very difficult.

What is the point CCs are already limited to 250 and as for making CC membership mandatory that is a no go. Whilst my CC can have a capacity of 250 we are happy to have 100 active members rather than 150 that are not and considering the hard work the owners and admins do messing about with lower tiers who join and quit or do not play is just another headache we can do without. Recruiting is not difficult if you just want to fill your available slots (see mbgloves ad finitum posts in this forum) it is however harder to recruit active players especially from masters and below and as such you will find that a lot of CCs will not recruit those people until they have a good activity record

I don't think you can make people join clubs if they don't want to. But I do agree recruiting is hard where the lower tiers are concerned. I have a small friendly c.c. with 20 members but they are made up of mostly legends, tour legends, and champions.

This I've found puts lower tiers off of joining as the gap is so big. I have tried a recruitment drive but with no takers at the moment. There are a lot of players out there in clubs where half  the other members haven't played in ages, others only seem to play wgt tournys or anybody alt games as there doesn't appear to be club games set.

To me you join a club to meet like minded people and make good friends, but not every player wants that.

Some clubs happy just to fill up numbers with most of them not playing club stuff or joining in forum banter. Look at their clubs comps and you will see they lucky if 20 out of 150 to 250 actually taking part. We keep numbers to way we like. 4 or 5 actives in and then 2 or 3 inactive out.

Never have seen point of having members who don't join in. As I would not at my real life club I am in.

Only leads to blocked membership then the next step is a mass cull of members then a mass invite push follows again........groundhog day.

I started a club a little over a month ago after having been in several clubs that were at both ends of the spectrum. Some did very little and some were very demanding. I prefer to strike a happy medium. My club currently has 26 members, some of which play regularly, and some who come in as hacks and do very little. I give them the benefit of the doubt thinking they might be practicing before they dive right in to the tourneys.

I tried setting up CC tourneys but got very little participation, and absolutely no CC forum response. I shrug off all the lack of participation because most people have a real life and playing a game for hours a day can get tiresome. I enjoy playing at my own pace and I would not expect more of anyone else.

A lot of people try out the game for an hour, for a day or a week and never come back. Some even apply for a CC before they play their first round and are only deadwood in the next second.

As a CC owner, I don't want to have more deadwood from any obligation!

Furthermore, life is a constant change. This is a pastime, made for fun, so the interest for the game comes and goes after any thinkable time if the fun ceases. More deadwood in the CCs.

Any owner who wants his CC to grow must be attractive to his members, providing some of the fun which motivates them to stay and play. This includes tourneys and other events, communication, cameraderie, excitement. I like the quote of Mr. Saint-Exupéry about the desire for the seas necessary to set up a ship-building crew...

No need to guess. You'll see any activity, any finished (practice) game, in the "date last played".
