I'm interested in how many players find the game situationa ridiculous and unlike actuall golf.

For instance I have played many of the courses on this site in real golf.

Take St Anfrews, this game rarly moves the holes and sometimes the wind is coming at you on every hole. The way tis course is designed, that is impossible, I don't know maybe in a hurricane. The graphics are poor. In my opinion they need to research courses and give  actual golf symulations. I think the program is of a poor design. What do other polayers think?

Many players find it unrealistic.  I wonder why.

Only playing one course must get boring, maybe try some others.

Referring to actual course conditions will get you nowhere.

Of the courses available here how many exactly have you played IRL?

Nobody is going to improve the game because of your rant.

    Good luck,

    Dave

I like the game and the views (graphics)!

The courses and their hole locations are based on HD photographs, so there are limits. Currently, each course should have two sets of holes, but some show only one.

Wind is random and doesn't follow meteorological and geographic logic.

IMHO, the golf simulation is quite realistic. There, too, are limitations, and foremost there's no indication that anything might change (except, perhaps, if they'd exchange Flash for something different).

I don't like the many flaws, e.g. in MP games, and the imagination of a future arcade-like, TopGolf-conforming game makes me shudder.

Alas, concerning customers' wishes, they are WGT, hope is futile.

If you don't like it, you'd have to be the change.

Ever played Madden Football? Ever played real football? Not the same but they each do use the rules of football. WGT golf is not real golf and never was intended to be real. Accept it for what it is and if it doesn't appeal to you, quit playing.

True as on WGT the winds are "random" so will never replicate the actual course layout.

Say what? We must be playing different games as the graphics are the strong point of the game.

I think you are off your rocker! You appear to play for free yet are quick to complain. No golf game will ever replicate the real game - but WGT have done a very good job. But it is only a game, and why people think they are substituting it for the real McCoy is beyond me,

With the lackadaisical approach you have to typing a post, it's pretty much impossible to give your comments any credence.

    More on.

Name a currently online golf game that is better than WGT.

    - If you take into account the fact that you can actually play this game without spending any cash, the result is not that bad. It is better value for money than most of the golf games you have available on the market right now. The strongest asset of the game is clearly the ball flight physics which are very good. Not perfect! But quite a good effort.

    wheatbread64:

Take St Andrews, this game rarely moves the holes and sometimes the wind is coming at you on every hole

    - There aren't many pin positions available because of the way this game was designed. They can not just add a new hole position at will. They can only use the pin positions that they have taken photographs of, when they had surveyed the course. It is obviously a great concept flaw, but there is not much you can do to reverse it now.

    - Another game design flaw is obviously the direction of the wind, which does not remain in the same direction for the full course. Instead it changes at random from hole to hole. This is also impossible to revert now, as you would need to recode the game from scratch.

    wheatbread64:

    The graphics are poor

    - On one hand everybody likes the idea of the photographs being used with the topographic data to achieve a realistic effect. On the other hand, because this game was designed to run on Adobe Flash there are serious memory limitations that prevent WGT from using high resolution photos of the courses. Instead, they use highly compressed pictures which make them much poorer in quality.

Overall, keep in mind the context. In principle, it is a free game and can run on a low powered computer. So, the result is ok.

If you instead have money to spend, just buy a Playstation and I am sure you will get the stunning graphics, the excellent real life effects, the changing pin positions, and all that you wish from a golf game. But then again, that is another ball game.

Or even better, if you want to spend some more, buy an indoor simulator and you can play with your real golf clubs.

If the equipment that you are showing on your profile page is what you really use - my hat's off to you because you are doing WAY BETTER than average.

Just a thought or two. If it hasn't already, this game will soon become DEADLY boring if you continue to concentrate on St. Andrews. Yes, the greens are a little easier than, say, Oakmont or Olympic but that scenery has to be driving you crazy!

Your Avatar indicates that you are in the USA and you really should take advantage of the Surveys and Videos to earn "Free Credits".  How you have managed to stick around this long with the truly crappy gear that you have is amazing. With better gear, your scores will improve and you will enjoy the game much more.

    Good Luck!!
